Who holds the record for most runs scored in a test match? Who did that country defeat?

I don't know! But if Google has the answer I can tell you in ten minutes :P

Here you are... Google says -

Most Wickets In A Test match

James Charles "Jim" Laker (1922-86) took 19 wickets for 90 runs (9-37 and 10-53) for England versus Australia at Old Trafford during July 27-31, 1956. Laker was a great spin bowler but he often found himself at odds with the sport's governing body, which may explain why he made relatively few Test appearances.

Well done. I don't know if that is true or not but I'll assume it's correct. I realize now I wasn't specific. What I wanted to know is which team scored the most runs in one innings in international competition.

Here is the answer: On March 12, South Africa gave up a record 484 runs on (i think) 4 wickets. However, at their turn to the bat they scored 486 runs on 9 wickets on their way to defeat.........

AUSTRALIA!

if you don't follow cricket then great, if you do, i'm sorry but i couldnt resist :)

Right answer, wrong question!! Runs scored, not wickets taken :P

I want to say Lara, against England - if we're talking tests. ODI's or 20-20, I don't know!

My question (sorry to lower the tone so early on!): spit or swallow??

Oops... I just realised you asked about RUNS, not WICKETS. They're not the same thing.

The Oracle says that the player to score the most runs in a test match was SR Tendulkar of India,

LOL! No I'm not a cricket fan. I never did understand the appeal of a game where two teams spent three days standing out in the hot sun watching a couple of blokes running up and down a concrete strip, and at the end more often than not the score was a tie!

I like cricket myself. We get no coverage here but I have seen some and it seems like very good sport.

Cricket's a lot of fun, although the limited overs games are more entertaining to watch. Test matches are a game of strategy, which takes more getting into :)

Next: Will I meet my sales quota this year?
