I-129F - send evidence of ongoing relationship or not?

I am thinking about this stuff way too much but i'm just excited! I finally pushed through my 325A and almost done with the I-129F and all of it's 'attachments'.

I'm running into something funny though. some people on here mentioned that they sent proof of on-going relationship with the initial petition. Chat logs, emails, phone bills..

but the instructions for creating the package dont mention it, other than the cover letter.

did you all send such evidence along or wait to send it for the interview?

hoping to send in about two weeks when i get his part in the mail and all the stuff assembled.. yay!

I sent it along. I figured it wasnt much work to put it in, since everything was in a folder together and if they dont want the info they can just ignore it. If they do want, then they have it. Good luck getting everything finished!

Personally, I did send some chat logs, E mails, and phone bills with a few written letters with the envelope showing the postmark, and various other things I sent to my fiance via post . I did not overwhelm them with a lot of that evidence, so I just selected a few things. I felt it could'nt hurt. If you have it, send it .

I sent ongoing evidence with mine as well, not a great deal as others have mentioned,but I did send some emails, phone bills, and pictures etc.

Officially you do not need to prove an ongoing relationship with the original filing. You only have to prove that you have met in the last two years. Many people do send proof of relationship but you don't really need to prove that until the interview.

I sent copies of passport stamps, airplane tickets, phone bills/emails, and photos of us together. It won't hurt your application, only make it stronger.

Nope. We sent our signed statements and proof that we've met in the last two years. I don't think my husband was ever asked for proof of an on-going relationship at the interview (he had a signed statement by me that I still intended on marrying him).

While it wouldn't hurt you to have clear and understandable evidence that it is a real relationship, it's just filler. They aren't going to pay much attention to it...it's just extra paper they have to two-hole punch and put in your file. Only when they request it is it necessary to give them secondary evidence (photos, chat logs, phone bills, etc.).

It can in fact hurt you if there happens to be what you might consider an innocent reference to something (like you jokingly referring to each other as hubby and wife in your letters, or referring to your SO's mother as your mother-in-law) when applying for a K-1 petition. You know in what spirit these comments were made, but the AO certainly won't.

If you insist on sending this kind of evidence..... choose carefully.....

We only sent ones that related directly to the plans to see one another. Things that backed up our plane tickets and passport stamps, but also could be construed as proof of ongoing relationship. IMs where we talked about what we were going to do. E-mails with hotel confirmations, etc.

Remember, you don't want to overload the officer with lots of superfluous information and paperwork. 1. I can appear like you are attempting to "over-prove" your situation, causing a red flag. 2. It can just annoy them. No one wants an angry officer reviewing their case. 3. What if you happen to leave in some joke about bombing some place? You are officially screwed. An outside viewer can read so many things into what is said between two people that know one another well. The less you give them to read into...the less they will.

I did not send proof of ongoing relationship "(even though I had it). I only sent proof of meeting. Our emails - had one or two words of kiswhaili here and there and I didnt want to waste time translating it or send it and get an RFE for translations so I kept it all for the consular review and added more (phone logs, postal mail, sms logs, chats, emails from others refering to our wedding) as we went along. i organized it all very nicely into a binder adn the consular officer did not look at it...i dont think it would have fit thru that little slot below the window anyhow. good luck!

Same with me. We had two accordion folders FULL of relationship evidence. He didn't ask to look at a single one. Just photos (which was luckily in the smaller binder which DID fit in the slot!).
