Hello !

 

So for proof of citizenship the instructions for the i-129F state i can provide a copy of my birth certificate, does anyone know if i need to provide a certified copy or just a paper copy, or should i provide an original?

Have you read the instruction thoroughly? This is from I-129f instruction.

No, the copy of your US birth certificate doesn't have to be certified. So just photocopy  is enough. For the documents of the fiancé from another country, a translation is required and usually the translator attaches their translation to a certified photocopy.
