Can I request an interview date when I send of my ready instructions to Sydney consulate?

our petition finally made it to Sydney after massive delays, lost file at NVC ect

I'm flying over to states for family holiday in 2 weeks, will be back April 14th!

Would it be better to be upfront about trip instead of them giving me a date which I know will be in a couple of weeks then have to change it.

Not sure how it works in Sydney, but we asked for an earlier date after a later one was assigned in Auckland and they were able to accommodate us.  I'd recommend getting in touch with their immigrant visa unit and let them know what's going on.

Yes I think I'll reach out to them first before I send off readiness info.

I've just heard it's not a good thing to change appointments, especially for later, we've waiting so long to get to this moment and the timing now is not on our side .

Thanks for help 😀

I think you will find the response positive and no negative implications of needing a later appt. Sydney consulate isn’t the enemy!! 😎

Thank you !😀

They have been very helpful in the past regarding other matters, so I'm feeling good now about requesting a specific date !

We found them to be very helpful and positive...even when I had to ask about the consequences of having accidentally shredded the I864 with original wet signature.. at that stage wet signatures were still required. 😁

That's great to hear !!

Just so anxious for this whole process to go smoothly for us at the end after such a difficult experience 😅

Oh I hear you!!! But soon it will be done and you will look back on these months and know you made it! I well remember standing with my husband at the consulate window and hearing the words You are approved... and thinking That’s it? That’s all there is? It’s done?? I wanted fireworks sirens and loud celebrations!!!! We immigrated as parents of USC.IR5 .. not spouse  or fiancé visa but the process is the same.

keep breathing 👍😎

So glad all went well for you !

I really thought it would be a smooth journey 😂, it's crazy that when we applied we had to prove we were a legit couple and our intent to get married , now for my interview when I have it I have to prove I didn't get married on my family trip. Just crazy but I'll have all the documents to prove it, cancelled wedding receipts ,   but it's still going to be very stressful !

As long as we are honest and upfront about everything we should be fine 🙏
