You mean for AoS? K1 doesn't really have biometrics.

As for AoS biometrics, everyone has to do it, as far as I know.   And it's not a form, it's an invitation really. You get it couple of months into the process.

 

Some people get interview waivers though.

09.2015 - Green Card received.

24.07.2017 - NoA1.

01.08.2018 - RoC approved.

For Adjustment of Status everyone applicant will do biometrics.  The appointment letter comes after they schedule it.  They only schedule appointments a few weeks in advance.  Timing depends on how busy the local ASC is.  Could be a few weeks to many months before you are scheduled
