Hi,

I am an F1 student here in the US and I have just married my partner, a US citizen. Now we are in the process of applying for AOS. The first step in this process is filling the petition for alien documents (I 130 and I 130a with all the required evidence). Is that correct?

Ok, in the I 130a form that I have to fill in, I am asked if I currently have a job. This year I am on a one-year university fellowship so technically I receive money and I work towards the completion of my degree.

Is this considered work? I would say so.

Thank you.

No, it is not considered work because your status is F-1. You are allowed to work part-time on campus (e.g. teaching assistant, research assistant) but that is still within the student status. What you have is a fellowship related to your area of study, but not work or a job.
