Hey there with the timeline for approvals moving along I am getting antsy. When I get my packet 3 I had a couple questions.

1. Birth cert, marriage cert, divorce cert, court records, military records, and police certs . Are these mine (canadian) or my fiances (american)

2. If the infornation is my infornation what police certs do they want? In Ontario we have 2 kinds of criminal record checks.

Thanks for your time

Hey!

Those will be for you (the beneficiary) to provide at the time of the interview. Your US fiancé will only need to provide the I-134 Form (plus applicable documents for that) and a revised intent to marry letter.

For the criminal record check, you can pick this up from your local police station. IF you have a criminal record, you'll need to provide the vulnerable screening (finger prints) record.

Remember for your birth certificate it must be the long form! If you don't have that, you'll need to order a copy!

If you have any other questions, let me know :) Goodluck!

Everything above, as well to say - My Canadian wife (fiance at the time) went to her local RCMP in Vancouver BC requesting her police certificate for immigration.  Three staff members at the RCMP had no idea what she was requesting.  Luckily, a friend that had gone through the K1 Visa immigration process a few months prior texted my wife a picture of what the police certificate for immigration looks like.  An RCMP supervisor saw the image, and knew right away what we were requesting.  We got her police certificate with-in a few minutes.

I've attached a picture of what the police certificate header looks like below.  Hope this helps!

So I read that the long form birth certificate is not a must. Manitoba does not have a long form at all. The Consulate does accept short form (i.e. form without your parents name)

Manitoba most definitely has the long form birth certificates.
You can download the application form from their website and print it out; Section 2- Type of document requested: Check off "Birth Certificate with parent's names."

I applied for my long form birth certificate on February 16th and was advised it would take 6-8 weeks to receive it.

I received the document in the mail yesterday, April 4th (47 days/6ish weeks).
Even though I still have my original birth certificate (without parent's names), I didn't want to risk coming across any issues in the future.
