Can I open a bank account in Florida without a SSN? Got married in November and still waiting on AOS. (I didn't apply in time for SSN before my i94 expired)

Thanks

I opened a checking account with Bank of America in Austin, TX, without an SSN shortly after getting married about 3 months ago.

The man at the bank said it was alright without SSN; they do it quite often. I showed my British passport with my K-1, proof of address and some of my USCIS paperwork.

Got the debit card about welcome literature about 4 days later.

More than likely you can .  Every bank has their own requirements

And requirements can be easily over ridden if you know some one or the right person at the bank.

I wouldnt bother with Chase unless you have SSN.

It was difficult even for me with a SSN but I got there in the end.

Yup Chase wanted SSN and proof of residence.  Bank of America seems happy to do with just a passport, I know people living outside the US have even been able to open BoA accounts.

We did Chase in our area

We had SSN, but were still on the 90 day entry from the K1.  We had some mail with my fiancé name on it  and at our home address and they used that to let her open a joint account with me.

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.
