What do you mean? I do not live in America yet.

I understand that is why I said WILL live.  You can rent a postal box from the UPS store and use as an address until you get settled down.  Limitation is that it must be rented in person

YMMV

Oh, sorry... my bad. I do not know if there is anything close by - I need to check. But as far as I know, I cannot use PO Boxes for the GC delivery. Though using PO box as a temporary address holder whilst I'm traveling around the world sounds like a great idea. However, this works after I get my plastic GC only.

Unless I understood it wrong and PO boxes are actually allowed for the GC delivery.

You would use the physical address of the store if you did this

YMMV

One possible solution is provide your temporary location as physical address but use a trusted friend or relative as a mailing address.

Otherwise as your visa is good for a year delaying the green card payment and establishing a permanent address is certainly a viable option.

If I had any friends/relatives/acquaintances - I would have done so already. But I have no one there. I may try delaying the payment and seeing how it goes.

I didn't know that. I will investigate it. Though, as far as I know, the proper address has to be a family house. It can't be a commercial property or something along those lines. A bit rubbish. Seems like a simple thing to do, but is a complete hassle.

Where did you learn this?

I read somewhere when I was looking what to write on DS-260 form that UPS will not deliver the card to the address related to the PO BOX or commercial property. It has to be an address of my property. Maybe I'm just thinking too much. Could change that after I rented something long-term. I guess I can always ask the officer at the POE. I don't think everyone had where to stay before the POE.
