M4 is used by the military.

AR15 would never be used since it’s a hunting rifle.

What do kitchen knives have to do with guns? Equating knives, cars,  etc etc is ridiculous and is just a strawman argument to justifying having guns.

No, it’s not a straw man argument.  It’s a valid argument that you do not like because it would involve something YOU own, and don’t want to give u ownership of.  THAT’S the real issue here.

Just like no one wants to increase healthcare costs, so we allow doctors who kill people “by accident”, even though often times it is due to negligence, yet doctors kill FAR more people than mental health idiots with gun every year.  It’s not apples and apples, because not many doctors just set out to kill patients vs. people like Cruz, but no one even bats an eye at medical malpractice.

Soldiers don't use semiautomatic firearms on the battlefield anymore.

Well not commonly

Jim.  Read this really slowly.  Assault weapons are already very restricted.  As in, you would pay more for a brand new vehicle than you would for an assault weapon and the permit to own it.

There are roughly 500K in private ownership (perhaps a bit more, if you add in some statistical error and collector refusal to register an older weapon):  MG_Count_FOIA_2016.pdf

Of those, exactly ZERO have been used in the past 20 years that I am aware of.  Banning assault weapons might make you feel good inside, but it wouldn’t change a thing about shootings in the US, since they just aren’t used.

A point that has been made numerous times but totally ignored.

Got to go with the narrative.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Don't act like you don't know what normal, non-gun nut people mean when they say "assault weapon". An AR-15 is, in the mindset of nearly everyone, an assault weapon. Don't try to come at me with the "well actually" argument and then try and quote statistics about automatic weapons. People are being assaulted and murdered by guns. That makes them weapons of assault, no matter how you want to split semantic hairs. You don't have to have an AR-15 to defend yourself, unless you're being stalked by Ninjas and if that's the case you've got bigger problems than your gun rights.

Well I have to go outside, I will be taking my assault hammer with me, my assault chain saw is out there and I have an assault knife in my pocket.

Hunting people seems to be all it's good for nowadays. You can use a shotgun to hunt animals, you don't need tactical sights, bump stocks, and AR-15's to do so. It's not like the deer are shooting back.

it's the same argument every time there's a mass shooting. first, they ask if you even know what you're talking about. then, they say you have no right to discuss something you don't know anything about (like you need any more info than guns kill quickly and effectively) and then, they talk amongst themselves about various gun mechanics/types of guns/what size hole they leave - like a bunch of hobbyists dishing over their common love. it will never change. i've seen a ton of these mass shooting threads over the years.

And if someone could murder dozens of people in a couple of minutes with a hammer I would be all for stopping people getting them. That argument is so Strawman I'm surprised it's not singing "Follow the yellow brick road".

Assault Weapon is a legal term.

Not all AR15s would be assault weapons. You can build what is called a "featureless" rifle to be compliant. Typically these remove the pistol grip and fix the stock in place.

Tactical sights aka scopes are accessories. You don’t need that hunting nor a bump stock.

You do realize a standard AR-15 doesn’t come with these accessories?

I strongly disagree. Ever since 6.5 Grendal and 6.5 Creedmore were introduced most hunters have started to switch over.
