he should never have had legal access to guns. that's the failure.

That has been allowed since before his dad was born.  Why is it suddenly an issue today?  Why was this so-called "failure" not the problem 20 or 30 years ago?  Access to guns has become more difficult since then.

access to guns has not become more difficult. i know you keep saying that, but just because you say something doesn't make it true.

i'd love to get the full story on that, i seriously doubt it's policy in broward county to not discipline a student bringing guns/knives to school.

He did enough to get expelled at some point.  Not sure it was criminal, but earlier, before his expulsion he was caught with ammunition on school grounds.  For that I believe he only received a suspension and was not allowed to bring a backpack to school.  After that the expulsion occurred, so maybe the school system needs to provide some answers.

I’m saying it because it is true.  Just because you do not believe it does not make it untrue.  I was buying guns 30 years ago, and again recently.  Can you say that?

schools are not pre-prisons. it's not their responsibility to arrest students, nor should it be.

so, it's more difficult to buy guns now but you've been buying guns for the last 30 years. way to prove your point

the 'muh gun' crowd will always put their gun collecting hobby above human life. reasonable gun owners have zero issue with increased gun control and limiting access. most gun owners are more than willing to go through extra obstacles to obtain a gun if it means  possibly saving lives.

The only reason guns are easy to get are because the laws on the books today are not enforced.  Government entities do not share information with each other at any level and across levels (Fed-State-County), maybe a result of sanctuary city/state polices.  So sure, pass more laws, I am sure they will be enforced now.  Criminals don't care anyway, and this guy is a criminal.

we're back to the 'there's no point, laws don't work' argument?

According to the MDL, there have been more than 18 already this year.  Btw, people that advocate for the 2nd amendment are not necessarily pro gun, but generally are pro self-defense.  For some reason the MDL leaders don't seem to understand that as they bash the cops and the right to bear arms, but I suppose they are protected by armed security.

Nobody said the school should have arrested him, but they could have brought in the authorities that are responsible for that.  I believe they are called the police.  But the program is based in science, so we are fine.

It's complete lunacy, the logic just doesn't compute. If these arguments were made anywhere else around other first world countries people would just laugh at them.

weren't the police contacted? wasn't the fbi contacted? that would be the responsibility of the school - notifying the proper authorities.

learn a thing or two about human development, most juvenile programs are based on the science you're trying to mock.

exactly, like you can have this sort of conversation and get the same results regarding any other deviant behavior. guns first!

So tell me.  How are you going to insure the enforcement of the new laws being proposed?  I suppose the MDL will feel better, but what else is new with their strategies.

No, the police were not contacted as this would violate the program that is based on science.

But any form of gun control is a no go. There's no compromise at all when it comes to guns themselves. Pro gun advocates aren't even willing to give up semi automatics yet they would still have a wide range of guns available to them. It must just be pure selfishness.
