No access to military style assault weapons. Heck banning the AR-15 alone isn't a big deal, how is that even infringing your right to own a gun, you still got a vast selection of handguns to choose from. Universal Background checks, ban bump stocks, limit ammunition purchases. All common sense.

If all AR style weapons  and bump stock murders were erased, it would have almost zero effect on the murder rate.

You have no idea how many “military style assault weapons” are owned privately in the US.  And to be clear, zero of them have been used in the past 10 years (more actually; have never heard of a single scenario) to shoot anyone.

An AR-15 only LOOKS more vicious than any other rifle.  I can do just as much damage with a Ruger 10-22 as anyone can with an AR-15.

Universal background checks have been in place for many years.  You don’t know this, becuse you have never undergone one.

Limit ammunition purchases?  To what amount?  In what time frame?

You have a vivid imagination to make that leap.  NB is just pointing out that in the overall scheme of things, very few murders are committed in America (or the entire world, for that matter) using AR-15s and bump stocks.  Just a simple fact, no need to get all emotional about it.

You didn't answer the first time, so I will ask again.  What country confiscated all guns?

Theoretically, if you took a cross section of the US and swapped 65 million of them with the population of the UK, you would see US gun ownership drop and UK gun ownership skyrocket. While the UK system is much harder to acquire a firearm than the US, I predict far more Americans would go through the system. There are no barriers really in the UK to gun ownership if you have a clean record and the money. Sure you have to have a long barrel extension on a handgun...so its not technically a hand gun etc. You can own a MARS version of an AR15. So all in all I would be a happy gun owner whether I liked in the US, the UK, Norway, or Germany.

What I'm driving at is that gunownership is higher not only because of government policy but also because Americans love the shooting sports.

No just expand it to the whole country, like the rest of the Free world, they have a minuscle amount of gun violence, why is that? You pro gun advocates will get there eventually.

Not constitutional to do that.

background checks are common sense. bump stocks are common sense if done correctly. Ammunition purchases are not common sense for this reason - you only need 100 rounds tops for an event like last week. Guns that people label as "military style assault weapons" generally are no different than non "assault weapons" apart from a few physical features like bayonet lugs. Since there hasn't been any bayoneting at a school, I don't see a a difference.

They are black.

That seems the main issue.

Banning Ar 15s and bump stocks would be the statistical equivalent of doing nothing. Why do you advocate doing nothing

do you not care about Gun crime in the USA and innocent people murdered ?

Students stage 'lie-in' at White House to protest Donald Trump's stance on gun control Mr Trump is at his Florida golf club

Quote

A group, known as Teens for Gun Reform, had 17 members lie down outside President Donald Trump’s home to symbolize the number of people who lost their lives during the most recent mass shooting in Parkland, Florida.

But once those 17 lied down, several others started to join them, NBC4 Washington reported.

“We have organized this protest in solidarity with all of those who were affected by the horrific school shooting in Florida last Wednesday,“ the organisation said in a statement. ”We call on President Trump and leaders from both parties to finally act in the interest of America’s youth and end these tragic mass shootings!“

During their demonstration, Mr Trump was at his Florida golf club, some 40 miles from the site of the school shooting. During his presidential campaign, Mr Trump tied himself to the National Rifle Association, one of the most powerful gun-rights organisations.

A gunman last Wednesday, armed with a legally purchased AR-15-style assault rifle, attacked Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, about 45 miles north of Miami.

Several student survivors have called on Mr Trump and members of Congress to take action on gun control, appearing on news programmes to announce they will lead a nationwide demonstration next month to bring further attention to the issue.
