Anyone familiar with the Vancouver airport?

I'm flying into YVR on May 15th, and I'm flying with my cat. I've never flown with an animal before, and I don't know the airport. What I was wondering is if anyone knows if there are any patches of grass, or anywhere at all, just outside any of the terminals where I could take her so that she could relieve herself? If anyone's taken a dog or anything else through there?

I imagine that after a longish flight and all other wait times, she's not going to want to wait until I can get to a hotel and set up a litter box, heh.

Haven't been to Van in a long time, but if ur cats an indoor cat, it may not even want to do its thing outside, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Well re Green spot for the cat, just as you drive out of the airport complex on right there is a cargo road, with grass in medium. ( none that I know of just outside doors)

( but 80 % chance it will be raining ) Good Luck..

Damn. Okay, thanks. :)

My fiancé is driving up from Portland, so he'll have to definitely be there on time so we can get out of there. That's why I was especially hoping there'd be somewhere outside I could take her if I had to wait at all.

I would be very concerned about letting a cat out of its carrier in an unconfined strange area in the first place. Even with a harness on the cat, it may well panic and try to take off for safety. You would be much wiser to leave the cat in the carrier until he/she is in a safely confined area - in this case, the hotel room.

One product you may want to take a look at is this - absorbent carrier pads that you can put on the bottom of carriers that literally keep the surface - and the animal - dry if there is water or urine in the carrier. Your cat may well not urinate the whole time he/she is in the carrier but if he/she does, this will keep the cat and the carrier clean.

My cousin flew her two cats from Montreal to Vancouver airport last winter when she moved there - they did not go to the bathroom until they were in the hotel room for several hours - they were still too stressed from the flight.

Goodluck with your appointment and travelling with your cat.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
