NVC -> London Issues

So some knoblet at NVC entered my birthday into their system wrong, and because of that, we haven't been told anything about the case, despite having emailed them my passport ID as evidence nearly a week ago.

However, we called today, and while they STILL haven't updated it, they did say that the case was sent out to the embassy today. They wouldn't tell us anything else though. So I can't book the medical as I haven't been allowed a case number.

I'm guessing it's still going to have the wrong date of birth on it, so what should I do? I plan on calling the embassy tomorrow, not because I think it's going to be there, but to see if I can maybe send them anything they want in advance if they insist on changing it before the interview, which I'm guessing they will. It'd be grand if they just said "nah, bring your passport (obvs) and driver's license to the interview to prove your birthday and it's all good" but I highly doubt that'll happen.

God damn it, this was meant to be the easy section! I guess at least even with these issues, I got in and out of NVC after NOA2 in just over 2 weeks. That's good news at least!

If they sent it to the embassy, it’s been assigned a number. It can’t leave NVC without a case number. If they haven’t been able to give you a case number, it hasn’t been sent yet. Call NVC back and ask for a case number. If you call the embassy without a case number, they can’t look you up and you won’t get any information on your case.

They said that they can tell us that it's been sent, and it that means it HAS been assigned a case number, they just can't give it to us because they can't verify our identity because the birthdate is wrong.

They should have emailed one of you (it seems to be random which one)... if not, London will write to you in a week or two with the info - worst case scenario

How would they have gotten our email? They weren't on the i129f. I figure people give them their email on the phone once they pass security check?

I don't think NVC "enters" anything manually. What if you're the knoblet. 😂

Anyway, you just need to wait on the letter from NVC or the one from London with the number. Meanwhile do you have your police certificate in hand? Do you have all your shots done and documentation in hand? Do you have your health summary from you GP?

We did two i-129f's and wrote the exact same on each one, and I checked mine and it seemed to check out. Plus, my birthday is 16th of September, so there's no way I could've screwed up the month/date thing in the US because there's no 16th month, so it would've immediately have been flagged! I will take full ownership of being the knoblet if they can prove it, but otherwise, I'm blaming them. :P

I have police certificate, vaccinations and health summary all in a folder and ready to go. The affidavit of support with supporting documents will be getting mailed to me either tomorrow or Thursday and I'm just waiting!

If there was some way to call the NVC as the beneficiary and not have it cost a bomb, I'd be calling them twice a day until it was fixed, but I'm having to leave it to the USC and he's less enthusiastic about calling them. I've called them twice and it added over £15 to my phone bill, crazy!

Petitioner Email was on the original petition, or at least you had the option of it being there.  On the same page as the signature.

Therefore they have his email :-)

You can use WhatsApp, Google Hangouts or a similar app and call as much as you like for free 😁

I used Google Hangouts when I called NVC from the UK, free to call the US from the UK :)

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

UPDATE:

Turns out the worrying was for nothing, after I had gone to bed last night, my USC fiancee received the email with the case number and such! So only a potential couple of days lost, and that's if they applied the number a few days ago, or today on the same day it was sent out. Either way, yay!

As I thought - glad to hear you're on your way.
