Ghana NVC Approval Now In Accra: K1

Hello All,

I spoke with the NVC office today and they said our package was sent to the embassy in Accra, Ghana on January 26th. Neither I nor my beneficiary have heard anything yet. I've heard that many people never get anything from the embassy and so it's important to take matters into your own hands and do what is needed. My understanding is that the first thing to do is pay the interview fee at GT Bank. Does that sound right? If so, does he just walk into any GT Bank and tell them he wants to pay the fee for a visa interview at the U.S. Embassy? Can we find out the fee amount before going to the bank?

Also, if anyone could lay out the process in a step-by-step way as best they understand it, that would really be appreciated. Thank you as always for any help you can provide.

Hi Wallace!  Congrats on your journey so far!

My husband and I filed for an I-R1 and not K-1 and so my experience , process and timeframe is so much different than yours. I’m hoping that someone who has already filed K-1 will quickly  assist you.

In the meantime, maybe do a quick search in the forum and see what gems you will find.

Good luck!

Thank you, Ameera. I've done some searching in the forums and I have the assistance of a friend I met on Facebook whose husband recently arrived on a K-1 so I have good sources, but I just wanted to hear from some who may have recently gone through the K-1 process for the latest information. I just want to make sure I do everything right so there are no issues with the process. Thanks again!
