Hello all,

My fiance had his interview today and they kept his passport. However, they did give him a slip on request for additional documents.

I sent in all documents as soon as I was home today and he forwarded them to the London Embassy.

Anyone know how long until his visa will be issue on average?

TIA.

I would think about a week or so after you send the satisfactory documents.  I believe they say 7 to 10 days in the Philippines.

YMMV

Oh, I hope so. I'm a little upset that they want a I-134 from me when London usually only requires it from the co-sponsor. :(

An I-134 is a vital document right? I’m learning more as time goes on but I’m pretty sure it should be on hand. I’m a beneficiary in the UK and at interview it should be brought also with tax returns from the sponsor and their W2’s for the last 3 years? ...that’s my understanding?!

Yes, you are a 100% correct. My fiance had all of these documents from the co-sponsor and more but our interviewer also wanted an I-134 and supporting documents from me as well. Normally, per VJ members on here, London will only look at the co-sponsor's things so I didn't do I-134 for myself or any of that. However, my fiance's interviewer was difficult and wanted to have both our co-sponsor I-134 and mine (petitioner). :(

Ah got ya!

All this US linguo makes me dizzy! Haha. Well if you provided that info after the interview there should be no problems. London seems pretty fast paced. I’m just grateful I have a great partner who can guide me as I’m learning every day! Filing taxes is not a thing here (I think)...I’ve never done it! Good luck. So was your fiancés experience at the embassy positive (as best it could be) aside from this? I’vd always wandered....do they make a decision 90% of the time before the interview??

Haha trust me, my fiance had the same problem. I'm so surprise that even though British and American english is english, it's almost like two different languages.

Hm, I've never filed my own taxes either, I've always had someone else do it for me but the gist of it doesn't seem too bad.

The CO tried to be tricky with him. His interview was at 11:30AM but he didn't  leave the embassy until 3:30PM. He was literally the last person in the building to leave even though he was early by an hour. They asked him how did we meet, what was he doing in America by himself, who my uncle is (pointed out my uncle's name to identify him), and then randomly asked me what did I call my mom when I acknowledged her?? Never heard of that one but he got it right. I have a feeling the CO was iffy about my fiance but was satisfied after he answered everything. London is a fairly easy embassy to get through unlike most, I think you'll be okay!

That's a lot of information, the CO may have been having a slow day.

I'm glad it went well and that the approval  comes soon!

All the more reason I always tell people, "Just because one person say's they didn't ask for a document doesn't mean they are right". Always go into the interviews prepared with all documentation required, even if they may not ask for it, it's better to have it and not need it rather than like this, get delayed.

Which I get, however, from my previous post from an admin, I have been the second person out of all London cases to have ever been asked for a second I-134. I didn't get my information from just one person; I've researched extensively about this and 99% of the cases only required one I-134 for London. I suppose I got unlucky or they're cracking down on it but historically, London has only ever ask for one I-134 either from co-sponsor or sponsor. But thank you for your input.

Thank you so much! Congrats on finally getting to the last stage!

Not a definitive answer by any means, but I had my interview today and it has been approved pending my medical. I had already called Knightsbridge and asked what was going on and they said it would be sent out within a couple of days. I told the interviewer and asked how long he thinks it will be until I get my passport back and he estimated about 2 weeks.
