Hey Everyone!! My husband and I was due to travel today and he has his combo ead/advance parole card. The airline requested that we bring the paper it came with so he can come back into the United States. I'm confused because I thought if you have your card you are safe to travel. Then when I called Southwest they dont know what paper Im suppose to bring can anybody tell me which one cause I have alot of papers I dont know which one.

He needs his passport and his AP/EAD card.

I'm assuming they want to see the I-131 approval notice (NOA2). I'm not sure why as this is not a requirement...AP is valid without it.

And Marriage Certificate (or other name change document) if the name doesn't match between AP and the passport yet. ;)

How is Southwest supposed to know what document came with your husbands combo card? It should be pretty obvious to you though should it not? You or your husband opened the mail when it got there? Whatever document came with it is what they want. Don't bother fighting them on it be safe than sorry.  Bring the card, passport and the document with you.

Also Southwest is not immigration. It would be up to the immigration officers to let you back into the country not the southwest agent??

Our AP/EAD combo card came on nothing special. I did save it and just saw it this morning in preparation for our interview but maybe they are thinking of AP papers when its not a card?

You are right, they are not immigration but they can refuse boarding to a flight.

If his name is the same on his passport and combo card, those are what he needs to re-enter the US.  But if his names on his passport and combo card are different, he will also need the document which changed his name such as a marriage license....just as @geowrian said.

That it true, I only have flown Southwest domestically and don't know the country they are travelling but it has always been immigration that has checked my visas and passport when I have traveled. So frustrating, I got the run around last time I traveled on southwest with my name change when I called them as well. Luckily it worked out but I was given false information on the phone when I called about my name change.

PS: I do still love flying Southwest.. best cancellation policy.

I think my tone was misunderstood, I was implying that they likely don't understand the immigration process and how frustrating it it. I was not trying to imply anything else (the downfalls of forums).
