Well, this is a heads up for all those who are going to the London Embassy for a K1 interview.

I was told numerous times on visajourney London only requires one I-134 and I would not need to fill one because my uncle is my co-sponsor.

Well, that is false. My fiance just got out of the London Embassy and they told him I needed to fill an i-134 with supporting documents too.

I am really upset right now since I've asked so many times and I was given the wrong information. I know this is a quick easy fix but I had hopes for an approval today after this long wait. The interviewer said it could take 3-4 weeks now which I don't think is true but I am disheartened right now and trying to send in everything by today.

Hi OP:

There is no policy change regarding how London handles things. Therefore we have no evidence to see if this is something new or not, or if it is just a newbie CO, or if it was based solely on that CO's discretion in the matter. Many people who have had their interviews recently did not encounter this, but you seem to be the second person who has. It is possible you have had the same CO, and it is also possible it may be something new. There's nothing to go on yet.

At any rate, comply with what they ask and you should be good. Don't think it will take that long either.

Agreed...no idea if it's a new CO or a changing policy yet. London has always been notoriously lax on this requirement, and they may be cracking down on it. Or it could just be some guy that doesn't know how London normally works. Who knows...we sure won't until we see more reports.

Either way, this is why I always suggest bringing all evidences to the interview. London historically only required an I-134 from the co sponsor, and typically accepted just a letter of employment as proof of income. But they can always ask for more on a whim...being ready is critical.

Yeah,  my fiance and I probably just got unlucky. My fiance told me his interviewer was a guy in his late 40s. I just wish we were done with this process. I would definitely recommend everyone for London to over-prepare with an extra I-134 anyways in case of situations like these. This was one of my biggest concerns.

I had my interview for a K1 visa this Monday, the 12th.

Just like you, from all the reading I have done online, I thought only the co-sponsors I-134 was needed, however when I got there, the CO made it very clear that an I-134 was needed from the co=sponsor as well as the petitioner.

Luckily, I had both since my fiance sent hers along with the co-sponsors, so was able to provide both at the time.

Maybe London is getting more strict in terms of the I-134s

Thanks for sharing the experience. That's the 3rd case I've seen recently...not enough to say it is a change, but definitely enough IMHO to be sure to note that both should be brought to the interview.

My gut was telling me to do an I-134 for myself too along with my uncle's but I didn't do it in the end cause I'm a full time university student so I barely make anything anyways. :(

All well. Hopefully, they got everything now and will reply to us soon.

Thanks, it's just so daunting! You're whole future hinges on these forms and trips to London!

Not to mention how expensive trains to London is!

I'm up in Inverness,  it'll work out better for me to fly. But still not cheap. Do you know if your fiancé paid for his interview? Some sites say I don't because it was covered with the I-29F. But then again others say I do! They don't make it easy.

My fiance is Lincoln, he paid about a 100 pounds for trains for medical and interview!

Yes, you do. The fee for the I-129F itself is just to apply, it has nothing to do with the medical or interview. The medical was around 300 something pounds--you pay at the medical. For the interview, once your case says 'Ready' on the CEAC tracker, you will pay on the London Embassy website which was 200 something pounds. Sorry, I'm American and my keyboard doesn't have the pound symbol lol.

Lol no worries. Thanks again. I should hopefully get flights for £100-150 per trip. Its a pain you can't do both in the same day. The train would take me over 10 hrs each way. I'd have to stay over night. Cheaper to fly down and back in the same day.

I hope you get your good news soon. Was there any other evidence other than the I-134 form needed? Strange how some are getting asked and others aren't. Thanks again for your help.

Oh gosh, that's far and such a hassle.

We attached letter of employment stating how much my sponsor makes (same for me), bank statement, two to three pay stubs, two to three W2s, and my state ID (they asked for it for some weird reason).
