Nobody knows why except the CO. Her income is probably just a little short for the CO's satisfaction, so he/she wants to see some assets to cover the gap. Or, if she listed her assets on the I-134, then she needs to provide evidence of those assets (i.e. bank statements or a bank letter for a savings/checking account).

They might not have asked for a co sponsor because they may believe she can meet the requirements...she just didn't provide enough/any evidence of assets to do so yet.

From a practical standpoint, what's the plan to be able to fly to the US, get married, obtain health insurance, and file for AOS ($1225) once in the US? Keep in mind you can't work for 4+ months. I'm assuming there's some assets lined up to cover this, so bank statements (or a bank letter) showing this can be utilized.

I have the money for my flighs, AOS, marriage, and enough to tie me over for 4 months. But they are with me in England, my intent was to get paid end of this month, move on the 2nd (ish) and bring with me my savings plus the entire of my last paycheck (about 3000 dollars on its own). Would it be a problem if we submitted more than they requested on the 221g?

There's no problem submitting more evidence than requested here (so long as it helps your case, obviously...don't submit something that would hurt yourself :P).

Ok, thanks - if I submit documents and they do not think it is enough, will I get another chance or is that it?

This statement is something to consider, just plan accordingly. Immigration is expensive.

Just going through the K1 --> AOS process this year. My husband was unable to work for 6 month post entering the US.

EAD took 90+ days and we got married 3 weeks after he entered the country, applied for AOS approx 10 days after that (you have to wait for the wedding license to be processed post wedding). We saved for 18 months prior to him entering, and we are glad we did, it is an expensive transition (we had to buy two new cars (one planned and one unplanned because of a car accident we were not at fault for), pay for a small wedding and immigration during this time). It is a long and frustrating process and can be done but needs some planning.

Good luck!

Will a letter from her new job harm this in anyway? The salary is alot higher. But ofcourse, it is a new job.

It should not but having a couple of months of paystubs in the new job will only help her situation.

Hi all, we received a 221(g) today after my interview. I'm a little worried, a lot sad.

They wanted evidence of assets, they didnt tick the box saying that we didn't make enough and needed a cosponsor which leads me to think that something else was going on.

I have some money in my savings (as the beneficiary) but the sponsor does not. We sent the email off they requested with a years worth of bank statements and my savings account, but I'm not sure if that is enough.

I would guess that your fiance was close enough to the cut off they made the assumption that they could come up with the remainder in assets and since you didn't not initially petition a co sponsor they did not think to check it (Per your last forum).

If you would like to pursue a co-sponsor I would contact them and just begin working on the co-sponsor, if you believe you could find a viable sponsor.

Well we made well over the amount required for the K1 visa as I said in previous post. I have sent it off and will see where it goes from here.

Thanks
