I have a few questions although I know its been answered to many times here I just wanted a bit clarification, Since I have the case number is it safe to pay for the visa fee? I know its ok to submit the DS160 now but now sure of the visa fee.

I just got the Birth Certificate Translated now waiting on him to get the Police report translated as well. Also does the paper work have to be notarized?

Question: Why did you translate the birth certificate and police report? I thought as long as it’s in the native language the embassy is located in, there’s no need to translate the documents? I’m just asking for myself as well because I’m still on NOA1 stage and want to know for future purposes.

That's what I thought as well but I seen a post in regards to the translation of documents on the U.S websites that asked to have all documents translated. I'm not sure if Haiti requires it but I did it just to be on the safe side, I was advised that it doesn't need to be notarized as well. What I will do is contact NVC on Monday and follow up with this question.

Just found out as long as it's in French you won't need to translate it.

Awesome! Thank you, I was gonna say that’s another item added on my to-do list cause all of my fiancé’s documents are in French-creole.

I’m not sure if this was asked in this thread already, so I apologize in advance if it was. If my fiancé has his divorce decree “Act de divorce”, is there anything else besides that which he needs to make sure he has pertaining to his divorce?

He said something about needing an Archive form for his divorce. Almost like the same paper they give you now as your birth certificate, the most updated version. Archives nationales I think it’s called. Do they give those for divorce decrees? Will the divorce decree from his lawyer in Haiti with all the necessary stamps and such be enough, or is there more that he’ll need when he reaches the interview stage? If so, I want to make sure we get a head start. I’ve put an example pic of the top of the divorce decree that I submitted with my packet.

(Yes, I also got it translated as well before submitting.)

Yes I called several times . Same result be patient , wait and someone will contact  your fiancé ( in Haiti ) . At the end of our interview he said we would get a response in two weeks . We are past that . It’s like I’m at edge of seat !!! Let me know  .. I was hoping I could get some one who went through this . I haven’t found anyone yet .

We have the same situation but I am a February filer and I am also scared of something happening. How long ago was the previous k1 and was it denied? I am so worried we want to be together and it is stressful somebody can decide that but I understand the process and pray for you and us as well. I have read of others In this situation who got approved but not from Haiti

Yes . My previous was approved . Yes same here all we can do is pray . But it’s suppose to be the US embassy  in Haiti you would think it would be some kind of order. I filled in September 2017 . Let’s hope for the best so we can be with our loved ones .

Hi there I'm new to VJ. Can you tell me where you got your documents translated and also the price? I was told they are not needed for the interview but they will be needed when he gets here for the adjustment of status. I want to go ahead and knock it out now. Also how long did it take? What all are you translating?

Yes, I am in the same situation. Your fiance will need to get what's effectively the Haitian version of a certified copy here in the US. Go to the National Archive and request it. It's a piece of paper with a bar code at the top that is verification that the Acte de Divorce is real (because fake documentation is rampant). I have an example I found online. While you're doing that, we're also getting an additional paper for his birth.

Thank you so much! The only thing I’m worried about now is if I will get an RFE requesting this document at USCIS stage. I’m wondering if they need that as well or if he just have to get this document for the Haitian embassy. Did you submit this with your I129 packet? If not do they request it afterward?

Also, do you know how long it takes to retrieve this document in Haiti and how much it costs?

We did not get an RFE and were approved June 7. In the I-129F, we submitted a color copy of both sides of the Acte De Divorce, an English translated copy of the Acte de Divorce, and a signed letter from the translator saying that she was the one who did the translation.

Once you are approved, I would immediately start to get the documents for the National Archive. We are working with a guy who is helping facilitate getting the divorce and birth certified copies from the Archive and its costing about $75. It takes about 6 weeks with him, and 3 months without him. DM me and I can send you his Haitian number.

Thank you for this info! I spoke to my fiancé and luckily he knows someone who works in the archives nationales building and he said in general cases, it does take a long time to receive the form, but his friend can get it to my fiancé within 3 weeks! Fortunately he got his birth certificate one when he got his passport a few years back. They included that birth certificate archives form with his passport and we didn’t even know the importance of this.

I’m glad I asked because this would’ve been a huge setback so I really appreciate it.

Does anyone know what’s considered too early to obtain a police certificate? My fiancé is heading to Port au prince today and he’s coming from St Michele de L’ attalaye and for those of you who are familiar with the villes, it’s a bit of a distance. Therefore, I wanted him to just get that out of the way now as well. We’re still waiting on NOA2, but I’m 193 days in waiting for a response, which is basically a little over 6 months.
