Hello,

I am having an issue. My fiance did not listen to me. His passport will expire in 5 month by the time of his interview. Apparently, a friend of his working at the embassy told him that it was OK. In the process, of renewing for a new passport, his medical test had to be put on hold. He still has not receive his new passport because there's no passport booklet. That also mean no medical. He was not able to get the police paper. I want to rip all my hair out. His interview is on the 26th of this month. I already send all the papers to him. What is the best approach to this issue?

Any input will be appreciate

my fiance is kind of in the same situation. he renewed it too close to us getting approved so now we are waiting for the passport they are saying they dont have  something to print it out so im guessing its the booklet like you said. we havent filled out the ds 160 because im not sure if he would be given the same passport number and we havent received packet 3 and im not sure if its because he hasnt filled out the ds160. we emailed the embassy and all they did was give us a user name and password for the visa travel doc account website

I would reschedule the interview if I were you until you get the passport

so we got our passport, booked an appointment only thing we are missing is the packet 3. i the petitioner had emailed the embassy and i was very straight forward included my finances name (explained he was the beneficiary , provided date of birth and case number ) and they still made a mistake and thought i was inquiring about my own case which doesnt exist. i think they were confused becuase i sent them an email from my own email imstead of his. we even called the embassy customer service line and they said they have sent an inquiry but still nothing. im thhinking about emailing them from his email address. imean how long does it usually take to get the packet ??

When is your interview? It doesn't take long at all to get it. Mine took 4 business days. If you told them that you preferred it by email then they will email it to either you or the beneficiary. Send them another email stated that you would like to received packet 3 through ..... email

Case Number:
Petitioner’s Name:
Beneficiary’s Name:
Passport Number:
Visa Class:

it it will create an inquiry, they will respond quickly. Also you only need the case number to have your medical or take a pic of the cea that said your case is ready. Best of luck

Oh ok your referring to the extrait.

Hi all - I'm new to this thread. Thank you for sharing so much incredibly useful information!!! Waiting for our petition to be accepted... (received Nov 6 so hopefully soon) but getting papers together in anticipation. I am confused about this discussion of birth certificate + copy. Can anyone clarify? extrait d'archive = birth certificate or copy? I thought it was the only thing available (we've been going back and forth for months trying to get a new extrait cause the first one referred to him as both a garcon and "her" so I really hope there isn't more).

I would say to try to get it corrected before interview it's minor to me but might be a big deal to them

Sorry I wasn't clear. Yes, we are trying to fix the pronoun. My question is on the list of documents does birth certificate = extrait d'archive or does copy = extrait d'archive? Thanks!

Ok extrait d’archive is birth certificate, having a Haitian birth certificate doesn’t mean anything until you actually get the “extrait” which is basically a validation of your birth certificate by the haitian government. So the U.S. embassy usually just care about the extrait d’archive, and yes copy just refer to a copy of the extrait d’archive because they won’t keep the original.  So in theory after you get your extrait d’archive your actual birth certificate is kind of useless but always bring it just in case.

It doesn’t matter for the pick up location just make sure you pick one he know and can get to fast.  I pick the one by the airport because it’s the most common one and my fiance didn’t leav too far from there but if someone leave in petion-ville it’s better to pick the one there. And after the interview it took about a week or so to get the passport but it can take more or less as you know it all depend on the situation.
