Hi everyone. I'm already ashamed of asking this birth certificate translation questions but now I've got this situation:

I've translated my birth certificate but not quite sure I'll be able to certify it myself (even though I know the cases when it worked for people). I have 3 options now:

1. order translation online with american translations. They'll send me the original certified translation

2. order translation with a russian agency and they'll be able to send me a copy of certified translation

3. ask a friend from Russia who's advanced in English to send me a copy of my translation certified by her.

So, the question is: is it necesary to have the ORIGINAL certified translation or a COPY will work for USCIS and Marriage License?

Thank you in advance, the answers are much appreciated!

Translate by yourself, and certify on the bottom.

You should write:

I, Martha .middle name...last name., certify, that I am conversant/ fluent in the Russian and English languages and that above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled Birth Certificate

Marta middle name...last name.   Signature.  Date mm/dd/ year

It is better if you translate your documents by yourself...applying for green card welcome if you know English. Never send originals anywhere ! Only copies.
