K1 income requirement questions

I got so tired of waiting for my NOA2 I went back to Indonesia and got a job teaching English so my fiance and I could be together. This was my career field back in the USA so I had some experience and credentials and was able to find a position fairly easily. The problem now is, how will I prove necessary income during the interview? Even a decent paying job here pays below the USA poverty line. Do I need to find a co sponsor, and will they accept one here? Also, I've got a decent amount of assets, no debt, good credit, about $180,000 in IRAs, $20,000 in personal savings and I own a home(currently being rented out) with about $100,000 in equity. Will this compensate for my lack of job? I'll have to quit to move back, of course, so I'll be jobless when we leave here. Do I go into the interview with a co-sponsor, a big list of assets, both, or what? Any help appreciated

Your foreign-based job's income won't be counted since it will not continue once you return to the US. You either need to use assets or find a co sponsor.

Technically, assets need to be at 5x the income level requirement, but generally most COs go by the 3x amount used for a spouse instead. Most COs go by 100% of the federal poverty level for the K-1 visa. The poverty levels are available here: https://www.uscis.gov/system/files_force/files/form/i-864p.pdf

 

Your credit, debt, etc. won't impact the process. The income from the rented home can qualify, although it may be tough to show that it's steady and current if it's from a home that you only recently started renting and don't have much to show on a tax return yet. The home itself may be able to be included, though.
