N-600K But No Passport to Travel!

Hey,

My wife and I are having a baby overseas and I have recently found out that I do not meet the transmission requirements. However, I plan on using the N600K as my parents do meet the requirements.

My question is how would my child travel to the US with no other passport? My wife can not pass her citizenship to the child and neither can I! How would I travel to the US to complete the process?

Is your child born yet?

Presumably your wife can go through her country’s embassy to get the child’s passport?

Apparently not. It’s paternal. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lebanese_nationality_law

well, this is a bit of a mess. It’s a shame OP didn’t investigate passing on citizenship issues more in-depth before but nothing to be done about that now.  Maybe talk to the US embassy and see if can get some kind of transportation letter.

There is one thing that could get me out of the issue but I am not sure.

I have been working at a US university here in Qatar (public US university) for a few years.

I have found the following (https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume12-PartH-Chapter3.html):

Time abroad counts as physical presence in the United States if the time abroad was:

As a member of the U.S. armed forces in honorable status;

Under the employment of the U.S. government or other qualifying organizations; or

As a dependent unmarried son or daughter of such persons.

How can I know if my employment counts?

If you mean you worked as a teacher/teacher aide or something like that it would not count under further reading of the policy you quoted.  That advantage under Section 1 of the International Organizations Act is usually given to foreign diplomats (I am assuming you are not a diplomat?):

(g) a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years: Provided, That any periods of honorable service in the Armed Forces of the United States, or periods of employment with the United States Government or with an international organization as that term is defined in section 1 of the International Organizations Immunities Act (59 Stat. 669; 22 U.S.C. 288) by such citizen parent, or any periods during which such citizen parent is physically present abroad as the dependent unmarried son or daughter and a member of the household of a person (A) honorably serving with the Armed Forces of the United States, or (B) employed by the United States Government or an international organization as defined in section 1 of the International Organizations Immunities Act, may be included in order to satisfy the physical-presence requirement of this paragraph.

Even if it is a American Institution of Research (AIR) or is that not valid for CRBA?

You would have to check that link you pasted above and see if your place of employment in Qatar is listed there?  It has a list of the specific recognized institutions...

It has been listed there. Does that mean I can use my employment for the physical presence? It is not clear if it is only naturalization or could be used for CRBA.
