As for the thread starts on the first page... yes,  it is quite different from the Obama years, eh?  If a rightist started a thread, 6-10 leftists would jump right on it, mocking the topic, making general statements and accusations that indirectly belittled the OP without quite saying his name, staying JUST out of reach of the mods (mostly). 

 

Some of those leftists were quite skilled at denigrating and belittling those with whom they did not agree.  Thankfully, that doesn't happen as much anymore, and we see much fewer locked threads.

 

    Right. We don't have to keep finding different ways to say the same thing. The threads used to end up heated and locked because there were disagreements between two sides. There is one side now.

 

   It's mostly righties on this forum now, whether you care to acknowledge that or not. You agree with each other and the topics seem to be several variations of the same conversation repeated every few days, depending on what is current. How would those topics end up locked?

Part of that is we have our own 2 mods that pretty much know everyone and how they roll. No more fly by from mod of the week.

You're korek, most of the lefties have retreated.  Some due to banning, some who felt defeated with how the tide has turned in the changing of administrations as well as here in CEHST.  I don't miss the hatefulness at all, nor the constant goading.  But I DO miss the differing opinions.  No one wants to eat oatmeal every morning.

 

We can all get snarky at times.  I know I am guilty of it.  But I hope that overall, my opinion or interpretation of matters can be viewed as logical.  I hope I can be fair.  And I try (sometimes I fail) to treat others as I wish to be treated, at least until they demonstrate they don't deserve it.

 

You and I don't always agree on things, but I do appreciate the way you  (mostly) present your side.  You usually try to be factual vs emotional.  And you are well-read on many topics.  That can add a lot to any discussion.  Plus you never drink and post, lol.

 

We're getting some new blood in here.  A shout out to BCKing and Trinity for their left-of-center perspectives.  But closer to the middle. I'd like to see less labels, less name calling, less partisan yuck.  I think that would help all the discussions overall.  

 

Like it or not, we are stuck with Trump for another three years.  He will never be a great president, but we all knew that when he threw his hat in the ring.  I hate that he has a Twitter account, even more so that he uses it as the CiC.  I hope he is the guy who can make some positive changes vs the past 15 years or more in our government.  We really need some new blood in congress.  People who actually CARE about the folks they are supposed to be representing.  Sometimes I agree when folks here call him a moron.  But I don't think I ever called him any names myself.  And I tried not to when Obama was president.  It's the #1 position in America, regardless of who has the title,  and it deserves respect for that reason alone.

 

At any rate, I'll shut up now.  I think we agree on more things than we let on.  CEHST is a means to voice things, perhaps things we'd never say out loud to our friends.  A sounding board, as it were.  Other than rustling some feathers from time to time, none of it matters.  We all came here for the same reason... to get a loved one by our side, the right way.  And that DOES matter.
