Hey all, just wondering if there's a difference b/t the passport stamp and the green card. Is the stamp what you use until you get the actual card? Thanks!

CIS Office : Philadelphia PA

08/25/09 I-751 Sent to VSC

08/26/09 Package arrives at VSC

08/31/09 Check is Cashed/Clears

08/27/09 NOA

09/24/09 Biometrics

11/24/09 Approval letter arrives!

essentially, yes they are the same except for the stamp is only good for up to one year.

The stamp is not always given, this is due to the fact that card are taking a lot less time to produce.

The AO may stamp your passport with the "Valid for One Year" I-551 stamp, which legally represents your Green Card until the actual card arrives.

It's a nice little back-up in case your card doesn't arrive for a while, or in case there is an error on your card that needs time to be corrected.

ONE DAY AT A TIME....

REMOVAL OF CONDITIONS

12/30/2008: Overnighted I-751 package to VSC

01/06/2009: Check cashed

01/06/2009: NOA (arrived 01/09/09)

01/23/2009: Biometrics appt letter received

01/31/2009: Biometrics scheduled

05/20/2009: APPROVED

06/23/2009: 10 Year Green Card arrived
