Interview for fiancé was on the 6th.

i got an email from the embassy today requesting further information from me about something I answered on the application.

I responded to the email link the embassy provided with the info they were asking for.

Anyone who has had this happen, can you please share how long it was before the issue was resolved?

my husband got the wrong document, he had his interview on the 5th. today case was updated but still is under administrative processing...... still waiting :(

I’m unsure if Fiancé visas and spousal visa’s are the same...

but, Did he submit the wrong document and then they asked for the correct one? If so, did he get an email from the embassy with them saying please email the information back to us? That’s great that the case was updated today!

What was the question?

Civil matter in 2014. File has since been destroyed.

My understanding is that only criminal matters required court documentation and stuff.

There is no physical record on my case at all.

It was destroyed after x amount of time because it was a civil matter and they don’t hold onto them.

I read the instructions very carefully for the fiancé application in section 3 for criminal history, mine was a civil matter so I did not submit documentation because it said only submit for criminal matters.

I am so concerned because I can’t provide them with what they are asking for and I fear they will just keep us in administrative processing and never approve or deny his visa.

I honestly have no idea what to do.

How did they even know about the civil matter if it's not on your police certificate and not important enough for anybody (you or court) to keep a record of for 3+ years?

I honestly responded yes to a civil matter that happened but it’s stated on the application and in the instructions to only submit records if it was criminal and it was not.

I can screenshot instructions on the US CIS website that specifically state not to include anything unless it was a criminal record or you were arrested or incarcerated, as these are the instructions issued by them so they should accept them I can screenshot instructions on the US CIS website to specifically state not to include anything unless it was a criminal record or you were arrested or incarcerated, as these are the instructions issued by them so they should except them

This is all a little too vague to give useful answers. I respect your privacy and don't blame you, but you are probably going to have to work it out by communicating specifics with the embassy and asking them your questions.

Embassies/Consulates regularly ask for more details or documents before approving the visa; applicants being asked to submit their resumes or published papers for example.  If you have copies of whatever happened, I suggest you try to submit those. I really doubt they will stop asking if you submit the list of  required documents

yes they told him to get the correct one and he had to send it by cargo express but all i saw is that case date was updated but still no word if the visa got approved. hopefully he can come back soon.

I have submitted copies of the public record that says the civil matter documentation was destroyed. Hopefully that’s enough but they have my contact information in the event they need something additional from me. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions.

It is certainly nothing sinister, LOL, I just can’t provide them with what they want so I gave them a copy of what I had.
