Well first off, listing a home as an asset is kind of a last ditch effort. So are you going to sell the house and be homeless to support the immigrant. If there is enough salary, skip the assets completely.

BUT if you list a home...say $300,000 house.

First it needs verifying with an appraisal and not your word saying it's worth.

Secondly if you owe $250,000 on the mortgage, then your asset is only worth $50,000. So if you want an asset to count, be able to document it's worth from something other than what you dream up in your head.

The I-864 affidavit of support gives much more detailed instruction and provides a good guide to use for assets:

Only assets that can be converted into cash within one year and without considerable hardship or nancial loss to the owner may be included. The owner of the asset must include a description of the asset, proof of ownership, and the basis for the owner’s claim of its net cash value.

You may include the net value of your home as an asset. The net value of the home is the appraised value of the home, minus the sum of any and all loans secured by a mortgage, trust deed, or other lien on the home. If you wish to include the net value of your home, then you must include documentation demonstrating that you own it, a recent appraisal by a licensed appraiser, and evidence of the amount of any and all loans secured by a mortgage, trust deed, or other lien on the home. You may not include the net value of an automobile unless you show that you have more than one automobile, and at least one automobile is not included as an asset.

On the I-134 the 'real estate information' is separate to the 'income and asset information'.  Do we still need to provide proof if we are listing it in the real estate section? We don't need to use it as an asset but leaving it blank feels weird when are asking the question.

I would normally say not for London, but just this week, people have reported some untypical things they have been asked for. Like proof of home ownership in this thread. We don't know if the case was borderline and the officer needed a a little more evidence to convince him or not. I would say, if the current income is well over by itself, I wouldn't personally get an appraisal and such for the house. Let the income carry the load so to speak. And "well over" is a relative term because I recently saw somebody say that about being $1000 over the 100% amount, while to me "well over" in my mind is double/triple the 125% amount. It's hard to know why one person out of  many hundreds was specifically asked to prove more about the home on an I-134. If you think you are in good shape without the home value, then just answer it without all that proof. In ten years, I have never seen anybody else specifically asked for that in London.

London is being bloody difficult at the moment. The few reports on here seem to show they're dishing out more and more 221(g) blue forms. I got one and it's only day 16 since I got it. Best of luck.

I got one too. Proof of assets even though we made over the K1 allowance.

Hi,

So it has now been 17 days since I sent the additional requested documents to the embassy. I want to fly back home to Sweden to spend some quality time with family and friends. Right now I am still under AP and understand that it may take up 60 days or longer for my case to reviewed. As previously mentioned, the CO kept my passport after the interview and I cannot seem to get into contact with them regarding the return of my passport as I obviously need it to fly... I used the contact form on the website twice. The first time was on the 12th feb and the other on the 19th feb. I even tried calling and was told to use the contact form again.

Any thoughts or solutions?

Thank you

I sent mine on the 13th, my medical arrived this Tuesday and mine has been changed to NIV and 'Ready' today (Which usually means the next day or so is Issued)

Oh congratz! I hope its a definite approval. I sent the I-134 & proof of home ownership via email.

Have they contacted you at all? The process with the London embassy is abysmal, absolutely no way to contact them

So I've been in administrative processing for a while now (almost 2 months). The embassy finally returned my passport circa 2 weeks ago. A letter was included upon the retrieval of my passport stating that the consular officer is awaiting the affidavit of support and  my passport once I am done travelling. I contacted the embassy the very same day via email and informed them that I had already provided the document the day after my interview (7/02/18) through LNDIVSUBMISSIONS@state.gov.

The CEAC tracker has now  changed from "Administrative Processing" to "READY" Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview...

What does this mean?

I just posted about this sort of issue separately, and then saw your post.... May I ask what proof of assets they asked for? My fiance earns over the K1 allowance and will be providing an employment letter, tax transcripts and pay slips which according to the instructions should be sufficient... But now I'm concerned the embassy are becoming more restrictive for whatever reason.
