Just saw that one. So disturbing and upsetting.

 

I don't care who told you to do what. No airplane ticket is worth murdering a pet. What a moron.. and I'd book her on animal cruelty.

Spirit is a terrible airline but that's besides the point...

The whole animal support thing drives me up the wall...

It just keeps getting worse and worse and 95% of those animals are not support animals at all, it's just some certificate their owner printed off the internet to try and get them on the plane without paying.

I think she could use some intense life skill and critical thinking skill training............she had several options other than the one she chose....and now she wants to sue the airline????

I'm confused because the original article says she spent ''hours trying to unsuccessfully rent'' a car. Why couldn't she rent a car? I mean I know that airport like the back of my hand... there's cars for rent everywhere and a bus. There's the dang train too! If she had funds to rent a car she could have taken a stay in the hotels literally next door, called someone to help sort it out. How did she get to BWI in the first place? She resided in PA... so transported herself somehow..

She says she was too young to rent a car....which not true unless she just turned 21.  Drivers ages 21 to 24 can now rent at most locations operated by Advantage, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, and Thrifty.  I think she is a self-appointed victim in search of a villain.

MIAMI -- Before Belen Aldecosea flew home from college to South Florida, she twice called Spirit Airlines to ensure she could bring along a special guest: Pebbles, her pet dwarf hamster. No problem, the airline told her.

But when Aldecosea arrived at the Baltimore airport, Spirit refused to allow the tiny animal on the flight.

With her only friends hours away at campus, Aldecosea was stuck. She says an airline representative suggested flushing Pebbles down an airport toilet, a step that Spirit denies. Panicked and needing to return home promptly to deal with a medical issue, Aldecosea unsuccessfully tried renting a car and agonized for hours before doing the unthinkable.

She flushed Pebbles.

This morn, I mentioned the flush-hamstering incident to an otherwise-occupied Mrs. T-B., who had heard a little about it.

She asked, "What's an emotional-support animal?"

I explained.

Mrs. T-B. uttered a mild expletive and said, "You gringos are all loco -- who the [expletive] needs a hamster or a pavo real [peacock] or any other animal for emotional support?  They're just animals!"

I said, "I shall bring a cucaracha [cockroach] to the airport and claim that it's my support animal."

Mrs. T-B. snorted and said, "Give your [hindquarters] a wedgie and bring it to the airport as a support wedgie."

I walked off whistling La Cucaracha.

I'm looking into bringing my two dogs over with me. Would be nice to have them with me as support animals. That'll save me some serious cash. Plus, I'd rather be snuggled up with my pooches than some smelly old fart.

No Sir, they sure don't. They're girl dogs, Sir. They don't fart. They smell of rainbows and puppydogs.

I'm still trying to learn whether farting outdoors contributes worse to global warming than farting indoors does.
