If you want to be a Accountant well a CPA.

Fiance can cover a whole gamut, do not think you need anything to be say a teller in a Bank.

CPA as stated above for public accounting. You could likely get an entry level staff accounting position with an econ degree.  We have different types of econ degrees here which lend to different job types ie bachelor's of science with more stats and econometrics classes might lend you more towards some type of data analyst position.

Working in finance a lot of the bigger companies will actually pay you to take the financial certification classes(series 6, series 7, etc). Your pay starts very low, but in just a few years you can be making a lot more.  You have other options to pursue probably on your own like a CFA or CFP.  You should be able to get some sort of entry level job and work up with just the bachelor's.  Even better if it is a master's.

Huge difference between being an economist and being an accountant. CPA the best route for the latter.

The economist field is very competive in the US and if you are a fresh graduate with just a bachelors degree it will be hard to break into. Many - not all - economist jobs require a PhD or at least a masters, and there are very many Econ PhDs coming into the market each year. Some economist jobs such as those at the federal reserve require you to be a citizen, in some cases a green card holder is ok.

As the poster above me has pointed out, if you are not that focused on being an “economist” as such there will be a good number of other finance jobs open to you - entry level jobs at banks and other financial companies, investment managers, ratings agencies etc. For most positions like this a CFA (or working towards one as your case would be) will be an advantage.
