Hi guys,

 

I’m a IS citizen and preparing the documents for filing an I-130 for my husband. Since we are living abroad and it takes longer time for me to get the tax return transcripts from IRS. Can I just submit the tax return 1040 with I-130 so I can send out the package sooner?

Tax returns are part of the financial documents associated with the affidavit of Support, needed at the NVC stage.. probably around 8 to 9 months after submitting the I130

 

You can download IRS transcripts from the online website and get them immediately. Transcripts are preferred, but if you do use your 1040, make sure all associated w2 and other income source documents are attached, 

 

I would like to use the tax return to show I filed tax with my husband’s name on it as a supporting document for valid marriage. So is 1040 still fine? I don’t have W2 as I live overseas currently.

 

I tried to register on IRS website to get the tax transcripts online but it keeps saying that my address is invalid. I think this is because my address is a foreign address and I don’t know how they input in the system.
