Renewing your Canadian Passport

Did you all just renew your passport, instead of getting a new one? My last name has changed since my expired passport so I have to get a new one in my married name, and the form is asking for a Canadian citizen guarantor. How do I do that while I live in the US and all my Canadian family lives in Canada?

I hate all of this stupid paperwork. Why can't something be easy for once..

My wife is just going to mail the application to her mother for her to fill out the guarantor section and sign the photo and then she'll send it back to my wife. Then we'll drive up to Windsor (we live 2 hours from the border) and she'll apply in person at a local passport office.

If your surname changed, you would have to get a new one instead of doing the renewal. I kept my name so that is a relief .

Luckily we have (or will have) everything we need to show for her new passport: short form birth certificate, photocopy of Green Card, a certified copy of our marriage certificate, and the passport photos.

We found a photo studio locally that will do Canadian style passport photos. They said they've done them before for Canadian passports but we plan to take them a copy of the photo specifications just in case.

Her mother will be her guarantor (we'll mail everything that she has to sign and swear to and then she'll mail in back) and she'll apply in person in Windsor, Ontario. We're hoping that when it comes time to go back for the passport we won't have any trouble at the border (We'll use our Nexus cards). Then when she gets her new passport we can visit the Nexus office in Detroit and update her name, address, immigration status, and marital status on her card.

HELP! I live in Washington state and am on my 2 year greencard, having received my AOS in November 2016. My Canadian passport expires in 2 weeks and I need to apply for a new one. I have questions and really need advice:

1) Because of getting married, my last name has changed. Can I apply for a passport renewal or is there a different application I need to fill out?

2) RE: Guarantors - I live in the USA. Canada.ca passport website says when applying from in the USA I must use guarantors who have known me for 2 years and are from professions like dentist, pharmacist, dr, etc, as long as they meet the "basic guarantor requirements". Problem is the basic requirement is that guarantors be Canadian! The dr/pharmacist/etc I know in WA are Americans. What do I do?

3) I can apply for my passport from the USA or I can take a day off of work and go up to Canada and submit my application there. If I submit it in Canada, can I put a rush on it and pick it up before the end of the day? Or do I just pay them to mail it to my US address and then use my greencard to get back into the USA?

A correction and addition since my last post...

1) Since my last name has changed due to marriage, I believe I need to apply for a whole new passport and submit a copy of the marriage certificate.

3.a.) If I go up to Canada and submit it, do I still fill out the Adult General Passport Application (in the USA) form? Or a different form? I cannot stay more than 1 business day in Canada so would then have to have it mailed to me in the USA.  Thus, would submitting it in Canada then having it mailed to me in the USA make it process faster than just mailing it from the USA?

Please advise

1) yes

2)no they dont

3a) you would have to have it mailed to someone in Canada who would then have to mail it to you.  Really it's not a safe option with a passport.  Also not sure you can board a plane with just a green card.  Honestly the cost is $100 more.. a plane ticket costs mor than that.  Just send it from here.

This makes me sad. Mine was delivered on the same day and still no credit card charge. Makes me only assume I will be getting it back as a rejection. which is incredibly annoying because of how expensive shipping to Canada is. So frustrating. Wish I would have replaced mine while I was in Canada before it expired.

I have credit card notifications set up ( ie) send email if more than 25$,  so that is how I knew. If you don't and you are checking your credit card statement, it may not show up for a while.  Hope all works out.
