US Medical Examination Instructions - Idiotic Nurse

As I arrived at the hospital, the first question I was asked was "are you a virgin or married?" from such a stupid and ignorant nurse who asked me in front of everyone was around at this moment both men and women. I felt so embarrassed to answer such a question and because I was shocked I couldn't give the answer she deserved. I basically replied by asking her why the hell would she ask me such a question. She replied "because if you're pregnant then you can't go for a chest x-ray.

When I went to the x-ray room, the doctor asked me the same question but this time was in private which I have appreciated then I complained about the nurse's inappropriate question asked in public. He promised that he will take care of this by speaking with all the nurses who work for the US medical examination section.

Just to be warned, the nurse's name is Amal Atteya Abd El Azim at El Shrouk Hospital in Mohandiseen, first floor - US Medical Examination Section.

I mean here in the US they care if you are pregnant so they ask, "are you or is there ANY possibility that you could be pregnant" but never do they ask if you're a virgin or not!! That's horrible!

It's probably culturally charged (the virgin comment). It's really not an *issue* here. It's not "shameful" to be a non virgin, adult here whereas in Egypt non married, non divorced, non virgins are looked down upon. It was a crass question that could've been worded differently and asked in private.

How did you manage not to slap her right there and then?? Whether or not you are married does not answer the question of 'could you possibly be pregnant?' which what they really wanted to know!! Idiot!

How tacky! Joe your fiance did the right thing by reporting her to the physician. That "nurse" was way out of order in front of all those people and besides she could have just asked her if she was pregnant.

I agree...but I believe this is Joe's fiance who is posting the info. :)

i'm appalled by the lack of sensitivity and common sense by the nurse for asking this in mixed company.

That exactly what I wanted to do. I just did not want to cause any big troubles since they have my papers in their hands just to avoid have them to play with my papers like lots of people can do in this country if you upset them, but I am going to get her ### reported when I return to pick up the examination results. It's not over.

J's back in the US. I am dealing with the visa journey issue alone, but when I went to the hospital, I had a friend of mine came with me who totally disagreed on this ######'s behaviour.
