Does anybody know what is the inaccurate information USCIS is talking about regarding the extension forms for I-751, lifting conditions?  See below for their notice:

USCIS Reissues Receipt Notices for Extensions of Conditional Permanent Resident Status

On Oct. 16, 2018, USCIS began issuing new receipt notices for certain Forms I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, to replace previously issued receipt notices containing inaccurate information.

In August 2018, USCIS issued receipt notices for certain pending Form I-751 petitions to extend conditional permanent resident (CPR) status from 12 months to 18 months. These receipt notices were issued to provide an additional six months of CPR status to the I-751 petitioners while they continue to wait for their petition to be adjudicated. Some of the receipt notices contained incorrect information that does not affect the extension of the CPR status.

Petitioners who received incorrect receipt notices will receive corrected ones shortly. If you have not received a corrected receipt notice by Nov. 15, 2018, please reach out to the USCIS Contact Center.

I like to think it was because of your hard work that the rest of us who only got gray copies are now getting legit green copies that we can use for travel and other things.  Getting two copies isn't that bad, good to have a spare.  After reading your post a week ago we were going to call by November 1 if we didn't get the actual 18 month letter by that time.  I'm glad you got yours figured out even though it shouldn't have taken nearly this long.

The one we received in August was just a copy printed on white paper with a statement saying the original was mailed to our attorney.

We aren't using an attorney. I've seen on VJ many others that received the same letter.

We received the the correct letter yesterday.

I replied to the wrong message, meant to reply to Redstripe

Definitely light on the detail and seems to be just an admission of guilt from USCIS. No idea what the inaccurate information could be?!

Out of curiosity, where did you pick up this bulletin? Do you stumble across it manually or is there a news feed that you can subscribe to?

I have not received an 18-month extension letter at this time, just the original 12 months letter that was issued.

I was nosing around the USCIS site as you do,  and it was there under News and Events section,  in fact there are quite a few news items about the I-751 situation and I think you can subscribe to it as well.

Hi everyone

Today I just received my first 18 month extension notice. It shows notice date August 6th 2018 on that green paper. Then I get confused.

I moved from NY to LA at the end of July.  In this way,  I updated the address change online on August 1st . But it seems USCIS mails are still sent to the previous address. Luckily I set up the mailing forward at the beginning of August. Is it normal to take more than two months to forward and arrive today???

USCIS has a new system recently. I found case history of address change records in old system . New system only shows the record of fingerprint review was completed. At this moment, Do I need to confirm USCIS with address change? Should I call or written in paper?

thanks

hello everyone,

can you guide how to reschedule biometrics appointment when out of country? Is that something can be done over the phone or by email or some different procedure? what do they ask for to reschedule it? Any issues in that you might have experienced while doing that? any detail will be appreciated.

thanks.

My wife received her letter on Saturday. I checked and compared it to the original 18 month letter. As far as I could tell (and granted we were getting ready to attend my brother's wedding so I didn't exactly do a lab test or anything) there was no difference.

Thank you so much for information. Do you know if I have to provide them some sort of explanation why I am not able to keep this appointment and attach some document to prove my story along with this original I-797C rescheduling form or just mailing them this original I-797C rescheduling form will be enough without any explanation?

I came in on my expired green card and 18m extension letter via Philly earlier this week. The expired card doesn't work with the machines so I got to jump the queue and go straight to an agent (woop!). She was training a new agent so I listened in as she explained the process for dealing with an expired GC and extension letter. Basically they're to look the letter over and if they think it's legit, they stamp us in. If they aren't sure, "send them back." I about died but I think in the end that meant send the traveller for secondary screening where someone else will take more time looking into the letter. She said to the other agent "we send them back all day long" like it wasn't a big deal and just what she should do if she ever wasn't sure of anything. So there's probably a fair chance of additional scrutiny (at least at PHL) if you have a less experienced agent. However she looked my letter over very quickly front and back and stamped me in in less than 5 minutes.

Those who have not received an 18-month extension letter, is your understanding that we will eventually receive one? Reading the various news entries that some folks here posted, it looks like most of their "catch-up" work has concluded. My understanding, however, was that they were going through all current I-741 filers and reissuing them with 18-month extensions. Is that not the case?

Most of us here as February filers, I presume, are several months away from an expiry of that initial 12-month extension (mine would be early April 2019), but I just fear it expiring on its own and not receiving anything between now and then. If that were to happen, I presume that we would schedule an infopass appointment and get a stamp for the 18-month extension?

I was going to go the route that @Danielle and Jake went if we didn't get an updated letter by November 1.  It seems like that would be best to do that if you haven't gotten your letter in the next week or two.  I believe they got their letter, then a few days or a week later they started sending out "corrected" copies to many other people at that time.  @starsky you never got the 18-month letter at all, even the error one back in August?  I'd definitely be calling them this week then since almost everyone else got one.

From @Danielle and Jake

So just a minor update / frustrating experience. We finally got the actual 18 month extension letter, after having just the "courtesy copy" for about 2 months.

About 2 weeks ago Danielle called USCIS to bring up how she had only received the "courtesy copy" and had yet to receive the actual copy, and she also brought up the fact that we have heard absolutely nothing in regards to biometrics whatsoever (no appointment letter nor a notice saying they will reuse the old ones). For the biometrics thing, they looked into her case and said the usual "processing times are taking longer, so you may not receive one at all, but our records show that you haven't been scheduled for one so you haven't missed anything", so that was good.

As for not receiving the actual 18 month extension letter, Danielle was told that "oh since you have a receipt number, I can't tell you anything about your case", and the representative ended the call. This made absolutely no sense considering they just told her something about her case in regards to biometrics. Anyway, when I got home from work I had Danielle call them again, and then give them permission to talk to me (since they won't talk to anyone but the applicant unless the applicant is present) and I told this representative about Danielle's previous call and what that representative said and they were completely dumbfounded and said "that doesn't make any sense, why would they say that to you?", and then she proceeded to look into our case, and put in an inquiry about us not receiving the 18 month extension letter, just the "courtesy copy", and gave us a reference number for when they give us an update on this inquiry, so we were relieved after speaking with that representative.

So then after a few days, we get the standard email from USCIS after they put in an inquiry and they update it. It contains a summary of why you called and the action they were taking. I was a little concerned, because in that summary it sounded like we said we hadn't received any notice whatsoever after sending in the I-751, and nothing about the 18 month extension was mentioned in the summary, which was frustrating because I was on the phone with the representative as she was typing it and she was reading it out loud to me as she typed it.

So we were getting ready to call USCIS yet again this past week to discuss this because we want to make sure they are looking into the right thing, but we lost track of time the one day during the week where Danielle and I have free time during their hours of operation. Then yesterday in the mail, we got the actual copy of the 18 month extension letter!

So I guess the takeaway from this here, and it falls in line with some other posts I've read, is that if you've only just received the "courtesy copy" of the 18 month extension letter, and it'd been more than 30 days, then it's probably best to call them and get them to look into it. No idea why this is the case, but then again, this whole process is anything but convenient. Good luck everyone!

Hey people ,

i filled end end of February last year and yesterday I got notice that new card is being produced. First I did fingerprints, after that I got first extensions for a year then second for 18 months, meantime case was transferred first to local office and then transferred to Vermont, I’m Cali filler btw. Just want to tell everyone to be patient and wish luck to everyone. Btw is anyone know how long usually take for them to produce and send card?

I received my 12-month extension many months ago, no issues there with that one. The elusive 18-month extension letter, though, is a different story. No courtesy letter, no original letter. @Danielle and Jake if you don't mind, what was the phone number you have been successful reaching a representative on? Thanks.

I find it hard to believe that I am one of the few with only the 12-month extension on hand. I figured there were more of us. Perhaps, then, my concerns are justified.
