No worries. Just show the extension letter and the green card and he will not have any problem. I entered twice already and it was very smooth.

Hello! 

 

Anyone receive the 18 month extension letter? My wife and I are moving from the west coast to the east coast this upcoming week and I hav not received the 18 month extension letter. I called USCIS and they had no idea what I was talking about and did not know about the 18 month extension. 

 

Also, does anyone know the answer to this:

 

We are moving from the California Service Center to the Vermont Service Center jurisdiction, does my case also get transferred?

I don’t know or think so, but Change your address with them and see what they will do. 

 

For the 18 months no, I think only one person was talking about receiving it.

It will probably take a while for the 18-month extension to trickle down to the folks that already received their 12-month extensions. Majority of people seem to now be in the limbo status and we'll probably stay there now for a good while.

 

Since you are moving address, you'll want to file form AR-11 and form I-865. Be sure to also have your mail forwarded to you through USPS as an extra precaution. I honestly doubt they will transfer your case at this stage.

I wonder, for us who have had our applications sitting for a while, if we're only getting letter that has 18 months from our application date (just adds whatever should be added on there) or one with 18 months from whenever we received the new letter.

My interpretation is that it is issued for 18 months from the expiry of status rather than 12. Simply add an additional 6 months to your 12-month extension and that will be your new expiration. We should, at some point prior to the expiration of the 12-month extension we already have, receive a letter with that confirmed. Ah, I missed the "for 18 months past the expiration date on petitioner’s Permanent Resident Card." last time I read about it. Thanks!

I got my 18mo extension letter a couple of weeks ago. Still haven't heard anything since applying, no biometrics. I opened a case to enquire what was going on and just got a stock "it takes as long as it takes" answer, followed by the extended extension letter.

@starsky No update from our end. Based on the email we got back 2 weeks after calling, we're just in the waiting game, which I've come to expect. I was just worried something got lost in the mail, but I have informed delivery now so that shouldn't be too much of a concern. We're prepping the paperwork to apply for my wife's new passport via mail this weekend. Thanks to those who helped out providing the details of their biometrics letter on what ID is required.

I don't believe we have you on our tracking table. You are a February filer, correct? If you want to tell me when you filed, date of your first NOA, and when you had your biometrics appointment (or reuse letter), I can add you to our table. Had you already received a 12-month extension or was the 18 month your first?

Yes I filed for ROC on 10th Feb. Received NOA (12mo extension) 20th Feb. Nothing since. Opened an enquiry on 8th June after a few phone calls that got nowhere. On the 18th June they sent a letter basically saying "it takes as long as it takes." The 18mo extension was dated the same date (and it's 18mo from the date my green card expired, not 18mo from the 12mo extension). My status is still at "we received your case and will begin processing it." I'm based in St Louis applying via the California Service Center.

MyUSCIS has finally updated that I attended a biometrics appointment. I know it's not that exciting of an update but at least it's something hahaha!
