I would not be too concerned. The ratio of people who leave those boxes blank to those that put N/A in them is about even. It's unlikely based on what others have said here on VJ.

This is good to know, gives me a lot of relief.  Thanks!

Hi all,

I wanted to share my dates as well. We filed on Feb 25, 2018 through a law firm and it's sent to California from Texas. Receive Date Mar 01, 2018 and Notice Date Mar 09, 2018. Then I received biometrics will be reused letter on May 11,2018.

Here is an email that I've received from my lawyer today: "I spoke with a Rep. at the USCIS, NCSC and due to the volume of cases filed, they are now taking up to 20 mos. for the processing of these cases.  That means that your card will be expiring again on March 08, 2019, as that’s the date USCIS extended your card (date on letter stating your card was extended for a year)..."

Thanks for sharing and welcome to the group! I've added your details to the tracking table. See below an earlier update from this discussion about what your rep mentioned to you.

So we got an email back, which I think stems from our call about 2 weeks ago. It was pretty much the basic stuff, noting that processing times have slowed down and to "keep an eye out" in the mail for any appointments (which I've signed up for informed delivery in the meantime). They also mentioned that a biometrics may or not be necessary. Would it be recommended that we call again this week (my wife is off on Friday so she has the time to deal with the phone people, and they won't talk to me without her)? I'm still weary on what exactly we ask, because last time they just took down all our information and that was that. I keep seeing "Ask for a Tier 2" but does that literally mean "May I please speak to a Tier 2 representative?" What if they say no?

Also, I'm wondering if we should just send off for my wife's new passport? I've asked earlier if her Canadian passport is needed for biometrics, and I don't think it is. It's just we got the photos and guarantor signatures almost 2 months ago and I believe they are only good for 6...

You'd have to go back a few pages in this thread as I am not absolutely sure, but there were some folks who took passports to biometrics appointments and it wasn't necessary. I believe you just need your expired green card and appointment letter, plus perhaps a drivers license if you have one. Probably wise to get that passport renewal process started.

Welcome fellow Texas filer! We're happy to have you here. I've added you to our tracking table, see below. Surprising you haven't received any further information on your case yet, have you tracked it in both USCIS portals? Contacted a tier 2 via phone support?

Someone must really like you! :) Congratulations. That's a superb turnaround. I wish that I could say this is likely to be what others will experience but I think you are an exception. What I am most interested in is why. We saw a military filer get approved early, which is actually pretty common, but naturally curious about your case since you had said before there was nothing "special" about your filing or status. If you can think of anything else, it would surely help others. It is your green card you're expecting, correct? ROC?

Tracking table updated with our second approval and a few new filers added:

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to share our experience last week when traveling from the US to Canada with extension letter. We brought  my husbands current passport, expired Greencard, expired passport (just in case since that had his visa stamp in it) and his extension letter with us for customs. Going to Canada customs just asked for his passport but coming back into the States it actually showed up in the system that he had a permanent resident card and since it was expired we were told to go onto a different customs line. The customs agent looked over his passport and expired Greencard, we told him he had an extension letter but he never even looked at it, just the envelope it was in (which was the original envelope it came in from USCIS). And that was it, took less than 10 minutes each way. No issues what so ever. :)

I tried to quote @Cosmos22 but I guess I did not do it quite well so here is my experience on coming back to the State on extension letter:

I did not have any troubles coming back as well. On the way to Bulgaria they did not ask for anything but passports. On the way back we had a transfer flight in London and before letting me through security a Virgin Atlantic crew member checked my documents and said everything looked fine. I was nervous because my expired green card had my maiden name on it (I did not take my husband's name when we got married, I changed it later with a court order) and my extension letter had my new name. In the States they just asked us where we were coming from, how much time we spent there, and if we were bringing any liquids and foods with us. I, also, had to do fingerprints and had my photo taken, and that was it!

On another note, every couple of weeks, I have been getting emails from USCIS letting me know that they are still reviewing my case and there are no updates at this time. The emails also keep saying that they last took action on my case on April 12, 2018. I have no idea what that action was since online it still says that they have received my biometrics back in February and the letter for reusing biometrics is from May.

@starsky

Welcome fellow Texas filer! We're happy to have you here. I've added you to our tracking table, see below. Surprising you haven't received any further information on your case yet, have you tracked it in both USCIS portals? Contacted a tier 2 via phone support?

——————————

Hey! So I checked the USCIS website but all it’s saying is...

“At this time USCIS cannot provide you with information for your case. Please contact the USCIS...”

What other portal should I look into? And I guess the next step would be for me to give them a call.

7/24/2015 - Sent AOS/EAD/AP

7/30/2015 - NOA1 for AOS/EAD/AP

9/21/2015 - still no biometrics appointment...

9/9/2015 - 1st service request (inquiry)

10/6/2015 - 2nd service request (inquiry)

10/16/2015 - EAD/AP APPROVAL via email!!! (approved on 16/10)
