Found out we can use her driver's license and updated social security card for the I-9.  Wife is upset that we can't use the I-797 notice that says she is still valid since we had to work so hard for it and want to put it to good use.  I explained that most companies are not going to be knowledgeable in these USCIS types of things and since it's technically not on the list, their could be issues we don't want to deal with.  At least it's one thing solved.

Reverification of an expired green card is not permitted. It is my understanding that your employer should not be asking you to resupply this. See this page on USCIS: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/i-9-central-questions-answers/faq/what-do-i-do-when-employees-employment-authorization-expires (this applies mostly to employment authorization expiring, but mentions the expiration of a green card).

@starsky I looked at the list of documents we can use for verification and it shows we can use the driver's license and social security card, so no green card would be necessary in this situation.  So I think we are just going to go that route to not cause any hassle seeing as the GC is expired.  I don't expect random employers to know about the I-797 allowing an extra 12 months of verification, so I think it best to try to ignore that option completely.  Since we have both other items needed we will go that route for now.  Thanks for the heads up though, if it comes down to it I can let them know it's not required to provide the original documents that we showed last time.

I got my biometrics letter two weeks ago and they are going to reuse my biometrics.

I am curious, my DL expires on 2020, am I fine to drive?

I don't have a case number, I tried the one on the letter I got about my biometrics and it doesn't work.

what's the next step for us? wait until approved? or should we expect another letter?

THX!

You're good to drive. As for tracking the case number, which site are you using? Many of us are having no luck with our case numbers on the old site but they work on the new one (it's just not been recently updated).

Waiting.... is the next step. Hard to say for how long. Biometrics was the most action we could have all expected for a good while. On current timings, the majority of us will be qualified to apply for naturalization before our GCs are renewed.

Wife and I just called the support number since we are both home today and they require her to be present in order to talk about the case. Mentioned we haven't heard anything regarding biometrics, concerned something got lost in the mail, filed in February, etc., so they took down a bunch of our information, and said they will contact someone to send us "something regarding biometrics" within the next 30 days. I'm hoping it will result in them re-using them, as to save us the hassle/trip, and my work becoming extremely busy in the next month, but I'm doubtful for some reason.

Also worth noting that aside from the usual "can't provide you information at this time" or "case was received" when checking the case status online, we got the same thing from the automated phone system ("can't retrieve any information"), then we got a live person to talk to.

Some progress is good progress. Stick with it and don't be afraid to hassle them some more if you don't hear anything in the next week or two. What you are experiencing is actually quite common and there doesn't always seem to be a rhyme or reason to it, just straight up bad luck. Sorry that you are having to go through this additional stress. If its any consolation, the biometrics stage seems merely box ticking for most applications.  Oh, and did you request the tier 2 escalation at the time of the call like was recommended earlier?

Nah, we didn't request Tier 2 because it seemed like they were actually going to do something, rather than just give the "we have no information" response. They even gave us a reference number of some sorts, maybe to document our inquiry.

Hello everyone, so i mailed out my ROC on 02/21/18 to CSC and NOA was received 03/09/18. I received a mail on 05/16/18, i was expecting a biometrics letter like everyone else but surprisingly, it was an interview letter. I had my interview today and it went well. i was told to expect my green card in 30 days. Fingers crossed.

Welcome. Good to have you here with us. I've added you to our tracking table, which I maintain to help everyone see current trends and where we all are in the process. Are you saying you did not have any biometrics appointment or receive any letter confirming that previously submitted would be reused?

Surprising that you had an interview today (presumably they told you ROC was approved?), that definitely seems outside of the normal range and what we've seen here and elsewhere on the VJ community. I'd be curious to know if you think there are circumstances that mean your case has been fast-tracked? Are you or your spouse military or work for the government, for example? FYI, in the case of the one California filer already approved they were both militaries.

Congrats, btw! :)

i filled on feb 1st 2018 had biometrics in march since april 9th my online status shows that the review of biometrics is complete.

As of April 9, 2018, we completed our review of your fingerprints and are working on your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number EACxxxxxxxxxxx, at our Vermont Service Center location. We will let you know if we make a decision or need anything from you.

Welcome. What was the date in March that you had your biometrics? or did they reuse your biometrics? We have a tracking table that I maintain for this group of February filers, but here on VJ, you can fill out your timeline over here: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=297097

@starsky Thank you very much. I didn’t have a biometrics appointment or letter.

I asked the interview officer about this, he checked for a few mins and told us not to worry about it. I was also very surprised by all of this as neither my spouse nor I work for the government or in the military.

Outstanding. Still curious that we have not seen more instances of this. It seems exceptionally quick and out of the ordinary. I have to say we are all envious of your expedient timeline :) Let us know when you receive that precious renewed GC.
