I am curious if you know of any reason why you didn't receive a waiver like a lot of us did. Have you been outside of the US in the last 2 years, for example?

Starsky yes...my husband is from Canada so we both have been back to Canada for visits a few times within the 2 years. You think that can be why they aren't re-using his biometrics? At least it wasn't a waste of our money paying the biometrics fee since he has to go. Trying to look at the bright side lol :)

Cosmos,

Good to see you again! I didn't get the waiver, either. Gotta go get fingerprinted again. :(

Has anybody travel overseas with expired green card and extension letter?.. a group of girlfriends are planning a trip to Bahamas and I am thinking about going but I am a concert about dealing with immigration or the airport when coming back, can you please share your experiences with me? and also, how do you do when you go through the immigration Kiosk?

Thanks !

Hi @mcfrl, I am traveling overseas on Sunday with expired GC and an extension letter,  but will have information on how it is when entering the States back in 3 weeks.

I think @lululola means they received the letter on May 11th and the appointment is scheduled for May 25th. It would be very concerning to me if USCIS completed a fingerprint review and then changed their mind...

I am curious if you know of any reason why you didn't receive a waiver like a lot of us did. Have you been outside of the US in the last 2 years, for example?

It will be a one-year extension which you'll receive a letter for. Carry that along with your expired green card and your passport when you travel outside of the country.

Thank you :)

We got my biometrics scheduled on May 24. But since we are currently on vacation to see family in the Philippines, we had my mother-in-law return the request to reschedule. My biometrics appointment was rescheduled to June 25.

If you don't mind me asking when did you apply for the Removing Of Conditions?

Congratulations! That's a load off. I am hoping your quick turn around has nothing to do with being in the military so we can all for a similar outcome.

There was a theory that those who were getting biometrics taken again were folks who hadn't been out of the country in the past 2 years. Since that is not the case with you, I think we can dispel that theory, and put it down to random selection.

Fantastic news for you! And thank you both for your service. It's an easy assumption for us to make that this is because you are in the military and are subject to more security checks and procedures than us civilian folks. I would like to believe that it isn't because of that but I do think it is. Either way, I'd say a speedy process for this is the very least you deserve while you are overseas. Congratulations again. Our first approval!

Timeline

I just finished my biometrics appointment, it was at 9am and I was in my car by 9:03am.

It was insanely easy and it left me feeling there was something more I had to do before I left, besides a comment card 😂 This was my first and only bio appointment since moving here. I wonder if a lot of you got it waived because you’ve done one before ?.... maybe ? Maybe not ? Either way it was a pleasant experience.
