I-751 February 2018 Filers

On a side note, regarding address for biometrics letter, since  I know there is no movement at CSC, might as well use this time to make sure they have an accurate address on file - we moved and I filled out the address change form online right away and got an email that they "got the address change request", then never received confirmation that the address has updated, HOWEVER, when we sent in ROC packet, the NOA1 came to the new address, where we sent the packet from. Is it safe to assume they are aware of the correct new address? Or should I send in a paper form of change of address with a screenshot of that e-mail just in case?

Hi, I have the same concern. But we moved a month after I got my 2 years geeencard, that’s about 2 years ago. And i actually received the reminder to renew green card notice and Noa1 in my current address. So I assume they know the fact that I moved. Plus, when you file I-751, there’s a section where you put your mailing address. And I think they are the government, they should know our updated information.

If you filed AR-11 online then that should be sufficient for the change of address, especially combined with form I-751 showing the new address. It is the address on I-751 they will use for correspondence in regards to that filing.

Also, assuming you still live with your sponsor (husband/wife), you should have also filed form I-865 which notifies USCIS of your change of address. Many of us did this a lot later than when we actually physically changed address, but better to be safe than sorry.

It sounds like you got lucky, as a few of us received our removal of conditions reminders at our old addresses. You might be surprised what the government, in this case, USCIS, do and don't know. There is a good reason they ask us to file the change of addresses form, it's also in our best interests assuming that we want things to proceed legally and without hassle.

So, i just got my biometrics letter for 5/4/2018 after a little drama with USCIS.

Care to elaborate? Have you had problems?

@diezr.albert we assume at this point you have received/had your biometrics appointment? Since you are the last remaining Vermont filer to go, my OCD would like to add a date next to your name. :)

For the California filers, did @SigAnd and @ALIENRJ187 both get your NOA1's through the mail ok?

I wish the updated table below was more exciting to look at but it isn't. On the plus side, I see plenty of filers from a year ago getting approvals because cases have been moved from national centers to local offices. With any luck, our 18+ month wait might be shortened to 12 months through this method.

@starsky oooh I only knew that the GC Holder must do AR-11, which I did online, we moved in September and my spouse and I still live together, didn’t realize there was a form for the “sponsor change of address” 😲. I mean we also got new driver licenses with new address on them, so when we included that in the packet I made copy of GC front and back, then a page of our DL with old address stating it’s address until September 2018, front and back & then we added another identical page of new DL that reflected we both had address changed to the same new one that we sent ROC from. Are we good? 🤞 or should we send sponsor change of address? I am surprised I didn’t know it was a thing!

Hard to say, it's a personal choice. Are you supposed to do it? Yes. Should you? Probably. Would I? Yes, I did, just a few weeks prior to filing I-751 and just explained I didn't know about it. Will there be consequences if you don't? Probably not.

I did a change of address because i moved just 23miles away but still the same state (NC), i got an email saying it has been noted and changed on their system. The following week i got a mail which says they received my request for change of address and have referred my case to California Service Center. I picked up my phone and called USCIS and after a long wait call back time, the officer tried to give me a reason why i was referred to California and i told him why the heck would i be transferred to California when i'm in NC and that was when he decided to check his system and he finally told me to disregard the mail (letter) and i thought to myself thank god (knowing how slow California has been). Then i told him that i know people whom i filed before receiving their biometrics but i haven't then he went ahead and said give it 90days after i filed and i said its been over 2 months, again he went and checked his system and said i have my biometrics appointment for 5/4/2018 and i said heck it's less than a week and how come i haven't gotten a notice letter then he asked me for a fax number that he'll fax the notice to me on Monday 4/30/2018. I decided to wait until Tuesday 5/1/208 and sure enough i got a mail with my biometrics appointment.

I just feel like if i haven't called in the first place, i wouldn't have known my biometrics had already been scheduled and less than a week away and would have probably not gotten the notice and would have missed it all together.

So this folks, is my little drama with USCIS and i hope all goes well and smooth with everyone's applications.

Renewed my DL today, absolutely no problems, was in and out in 24 minutes. Not sure when it expires, whether it's just 1 year or a full 10, I'll let y'all know when I receive it in the mail. Biometrics on Friday! Looks like quite a few of us VSCers have it then too.

I should note that I renewed my licence BEFORE my GC expired and in the 30 day window of my GC/DL expiring, which I think is why it went smoothly. Just took in my extension letter and had my GC and current DL ready.

@starsky you actually have my name down twice on the list for CSC filers.  The one with the blank space for NOA1 can be erased.  The one that is correct and up to date is the first one dated 2/20 with NOA1 on 3/2.

As for the recent AR-11 talks, I submitted mine after we submitted for RoC (which was over a year after we actually moved).  We did the form for her when moving, but forgot that me the USC has to fill one out as well.  I got the response form less than two weeks later with no issues.

Went with my wife to get her biometrics done. Took about 40 minutes which was way better than the last time (2 hours). So the waiting game begins.

In regards to her DL, it expires in August 2018 while her GC expires in May 23, 2018. Should we go ahead and get it renewed now or wait 30 days before her DL expires?

Timeline

I had my biometrics done this morning as well. Appointment was at 9am, arrived around 8:50 at the ASC in Brooklyn on 60th street. Stayed about 10 minutes in the first line to have a first officer stamping things and handing me my number. I was number 903, and when I took a seat the counter was at 872. I was out by 9:30am, so that was super efficient. There were 8 or 10 immigration officers working biometrics.

Since my current GC expires tomorrow, I asked the officer who did my biometrics to confirm what I had to do if I get out of the country to re-enter. He told me to travel with my passport and GC (obviously), as well as the extension letter AND the stamped biometrics appointment letter, which I had no idea so I thought I'd let everyone know.

Had my biometrics today, felt like cattle being herded! No food or drink allowed and cell phones had to be switched off (I remember the Denver center being loose about this rule, luckily I had a book). Filled out a form and sat down, the security officer had us sit in specific places, which I later realized was based on appointment times. A few people arrived before me but had been sat in an area that meant their appointment time was after mine, which was quite nice that it wasn't a first come first serve basis. The center was quite busy today, I'm assuming a lot of people got their appointments dated today based on the chart starsky put together, so they had a sign up saying "no walk-ins today". I even saw a guy come in and leave in a huff because he wasn't going to be seen.

I waited about 30 minutes before I was told to stand in a line and then got my letter stamped and got a number, then went to sit in a second waiting area. Waited about 10-15 minutes for my number to be called. I only had to have my right fingers fingerprinted before he told me I could go? I'm assuming it's just to make sure they're the same as the last time I had biometrics done? All in all, the whole process took about 1 hour 10 minutes (arrived 10 minutes before appointment time).

I checked the DMV website and there was a section for non-USC's and renewing their licences which stated to wait until 30 days until expiration. Probably best to check with your DMV too. (Just for reference, this is what the GA DMV page looks like: https://dds.georgia.gov/information-non-us-citizens
