I found myself reading through the December 2017 filers thread this afternoon to see if any progress had been made on California biometrics appointments. One member posted this email that they got back after enquiring about the status of their application, I thought it was worth sharing here with others. Maybe we will get lucky and they won't re-take our biometrics?

I just did a quick tally of their California applicants and who have received biometrics letters, only 36% so far have confirmed, yet many are still active and patiently waiting like the rest of us here. Less than 18% of Vermont filers are without a biometrics appointment and in truth, that's probably 0% as some of those may be just inactive members.

As reported earlier in this thread, it remains the case that not a single January 2018 filer from California has received their biometrics appointment, although several did receive emails this week of their cases being touched (but no action).

It is frustrating but I hold on to the fact that this is not isolated incidents and it appears to be impacting California filers from at least the past 3-4 months.

I am a Feb filer and about end of  march I called USCIS service center and  they said my case passed 44days at that moment so they sent me an email later which is exactly same as above text.   So, It means just keep waiting...

I hope there is any progress soon.

That's weird. Maybe they give everyone a cross since they don't have a separate line yet? I don't know. I hope they fix it because when the airport is set up properly for use with the kiosks it's awesome, saves so much time. Really sucks that you guys had to wait so long with a little one :(

My husband didn't have a cross and neither did my son. Maybe I'm just super unlucky every time I travel! Haha.

On the plus side potentially not having to go and do biometrics again would be nice, but it raises so many questions. Like, if they can just re-use your old ones, then why not do that for every use case as long as it's not the first? And secondly, if they do re-use them, I find it tasteless that they keep your biometrics fee regardless. I know this is a small amount in the grand scheme of things, but it's the principle.

Just received an email from USCIS i think this mean we’ll have to wait for long for the biometric to come. Good luck to us!

@Redstripe,

this forum is amazing, don’t lose hope, the only reason why CSC filers haven’t posted anything it’s because they haven’t got their letter yet. I wish of course that it was going faster but it’s not. I am lucky I live in NYC otherwise I would be struggling as well. PATIENCE is a virtue, easy for me to say but you will get there ! :)

Looks like my suspicions were confirmed - there are issues with getting a timely biometrics appointment now.  This is tricky for us because we want to leave the US for the summer.  To wait, or not to wait, that is the question...

Is there someone you trust who can check your mail and reschedule your biometrics if it would come during your vacation? All they need to do is check a box and send it to whatever address it says in the letter.

Really?  I'd heard (on here I think) that it's semi-involved and risky to reschedule.  If it's easy, that's what we'll do.

If I remember correctly that's all you have to do. When we were doing AOS I had to do it because my dad passed away a few days after applying and the biometrics appointment was when I was in Sweden supporting my mom.

Hi guys, has anyone tried traveling overseas after filing I-751with your expired green card?

I know that you can technically travel with your expired green card, original NOA, and a valid passport, but I was wondering if anyone has recently traveled.  Thanks!

Yes my friend traveled to Africa, for 3 months on expired green card, no1 and a passport, she came back yesterday, she said the only question she was asked was, how long was your vacation, and she answered and they said welcome back. 🇺🇸

My informed delivery is showing a letter from USCIS coming today. Hopefully it's my biometrics letter and not a RFE.

Congrats to you both! 60% of Vermont filers now have Biometrics appointments, not that us California filers really needed to know that stat, but since we're all in this together...at least a good percentage of folks here are progressing.
