I-751 February 2018 Filers

It's awesome that so many VSC filers are getting their appointment letters! I'm happy for you guys :)

I was browsing on the December 2017 and January 2018 filer threads and what I'm really struck by is how suddenly the biometric letters just cut off. CSC was actually sending them out really quickly at the beginning of December, but it gets to around 12/20 and they just stop. Not a single January filer has received one either. Some of the December CSC filers were saying they'd received notification that their cases have been transferred, so I'm wondering if at this point, CSC isn't processing cases at all, and is just working on transferring them because of their backlog.

Hey, I have to fill my time with some kind of idle speculation during this 17.5 to 19 month wait, right? ;)

My wife did the biometrics appointment yesterday. During the appointment they mentioned that she will have to do an interview at a later date but didn't specify when.

Does anyone know how long after the biometrics they usually conduct the interview? Perhaps a time-frame?

They just told her that she will receive something in the mail about it but that was all

Thank you

Are interviews at this stage for K1 visas removing conditions or everyone? Does anyone know?

We had our interview when applying for AOS. Is there another interview?

From what I've read, interviews are somewhat uncommon. Most people's I-751s are approved without an interview. But there's certainly the possibility of one.

It said somewhere (either NOA1 or in the ROC instructions) that if you send in enough evidence and they're happy with that, there's a chance you might get approved without an interview.

I have also heard (this was at the USCIS office 2 years ago) that since processing times are so long that you can send in your naturalization papers and they'll convert your application and the next interview will be for citizenship if you decide to do so. Don't know how accurate it is as some who work at USCIS have no idea about their own policies.

We had gotten married in 2015 while we were still living abroad and when we moved here she still had her Maiden name.  In 2016 we arrived in the states and got here green card and later in the middle of the year decided to change her last name. After changing it we went to the USCIS office and asked about what we should do since we changed her name and they said to just wait for the 2 years and at that time you can update the name change instead of getting a replacement card.

So yesterday the lady asked her about the name thing and therefore told her that she'd have to do an interview or something. I don't know all the specifics cause I wasn't there but something like that. So i was wondering how soon they schedule them

Track your application and you will receive a notification about it.

but I don’t think it will be any time soon. Or they may decide to just approve it without any interview. 👍🏽

Good luck 👍🏽

We received our biometric letter today as well :D! Notice date 3/17/2018 and appointment 4/2/2018.

That's a good news!

I am still waiting for finger print letter. Also, I cannot check my case status because of invalid receipt#.

I just hope nothing is wrong.

When you filled out the form this time did you write her name with her married or maiden name?

Happens from time to time. If you have been able to before but not now it could be maintenance. If you haven't been able to this whole time then it could be that you're not fully in the system yet but hopefully you'll be able to check on it soon.

Do you have a long way to drive so that he really needs to take the entire day off? :(

You would be wise to reschedule your appointment now since you'll know you will miss it unless the walk-in is successful. As others have said, it is disappointing that your husband's employer is not sympathetic to the situation. I suspect that issue is more common that perhaps we realize.

We're still waiting on your first move California service center! <_<

I am going to talk to his HR dept. tomorrow about it.  They say it's because he has missed too many days recently when he was sick, even though we have a DR's excuse for them all.
