Is it possible/easy/reasonable to reschedule biometrics if it falls on our vacation date?

If it's the same procedure as with AOS you check a box on your appointment letter, send it back to them and they will send you a new appointment.

Ah okay, thanks. I don't remember the AOS procedure because we didn't have an issue. My concern is that we would be away from home when it comes, and we plan on having a friend check the mail. I figured there'd be a number or something considering you usually get the appointment letter <10 days before the appointment.

I only remember that part because we had to reschedule mine as I unexpectedly found myself back in my home country when the appointment arrived. It's very easy. Just checkmark and send it back :)

Thanks! My concern is how do we do that if we aren't home? I've read you should send them a letter with the notice asking to reschedule. All that is impossible if we are away when it arrives. We are going to have a friend check the mail for us, but would he be able to check the box and mail it back?

If you trust him to open your USCIS mail then yes. I don't think there's anything to sign, my husband can't remember. He was the one doing it for me when I couldn't come to my biometrics appointment.

I read from another post few weeks ago where a person missed their appointment. This person did a walkin and explained their situation and the ASC allowed them to get their fingerprint done. Below are some threads about missed appointments.

Cool, thanks, I've added you to the tracking table.

@starsky can you please update my info? Don't know why but it still says on the list I haven't received my NOA1... Received it on March 5th. Date on NOA1 says February 28. Thank you! :)

The list is manually updated by me, so if you posted here in the thread and I missed it, my bad, but otherwise, I rely on people to post in the thread so I can update it. Anyhow, all updated now :)

Thanks for the info, I've added you to the tracking table. If you need to reschedule your biometrics you can do so by following the instructions on the letter you'll receive. Most people say they get a date 3-4 weeks after the original. Some also say they just walk-in to a service center and hope they can work them in on the day, although that seems to have mixed success. Bottom line, if you absolutely need to reschedule it, you'll be fine to do so, just stay on top of it and make sure it all follows through with USCIS.

Updated tracking table below. *Still waiting* on the elusive first biometrics appointment for California filers!

Thanks for sharing those threads. My issue with a "walk-in" is that our office is a ~3 hour drive away. That's going to be extremely frustrating and wasteful to try a walk-in and get turned away.

You can call Customer Service and ask them if there is a schedule for you yet or not? They can submit an inquiry and update you when it would be scheduled.

Just re-schedule your appointment once you get your appointment letter. If you even get it during your trip.

I might just do that. Is there a specific number to call (we are at the CSC)? I have read they won't usually answer an inquiry until 30 days after the NOA1 date, and that will be in a couple days.

It should be 30 days after submission, not NOA1 date. You can call the number on NOA1 and press 2 for couple time to talk with a person.

There is no point of calling USCIS. Like it was specified when I checked my status to call them if I dont recievie anythig this is what I got today.

They are backed up thats why its taking that long. BE patient.

That just means that they won't process your case until you've had your biometrics appointment. But yes, they are delayed with everything. But people who filed at the beginning of February are now starting to get their appointment letters.
