Hey @starsky, you might have missed my message earlier but I did receive my NOA on March 10th (it is dated March 6th). Thank you again for maintaining this ever growing table :) .

Thanks for pointing that out. It can be hard to keep on top of all the activity, but that's a good problem to have as it means people's cases are progressing. :)

Hi guys,

My application was delivered to VSC on 2/26, received 2/27, check posted on 3/08, notice received on 3/10 and notice of action dated 3/06.

Nice to meet you all and i wish all a smooth sailing through this process.

Welcome! I've added you to the tracking table.

Thanks @starsky for posting a link to renewing DL's, especially since it's relevant to my State of residence. From what I read, people experience less hassle when they go to the DMV while their GC is still valid + their extension letter. I think I'll do the same, instead of waiting for my DL to expire first. I'm imagining everything gets processed on a system and if the GC is expired it won't let them proceed with giving out another DL without additional approval/checks? That's my guess.

Let us know how you get on, I do not think they can deny you, especially with a valid GC and the extension.

We had no trouble renewing his DL with GC and extension letter for a year extension.

I asked the SSA office about the employer reverification.   They confirmed that it's only the card that expires, not the status and employers should not reverify green cards.

We had not changed his social security card from the "valid only with DHS authorization"  The clerk explained that he can just preset his DL and the new clear SSA card and the employer is not allowed to ask for the green card.

This should eliminate constant reverification while waiting for ROC.

So just to make sure I've understood this correctly... I do not need to let my boss know that my green card is expiring and I have gotten an extension letter? Even if it's a place that regularly gets inspected and they might see a copy of my expired green card in my personel file?

Please verify anything that anyone says on this issue for yourself, including me, but the liability is on the employer to verify you have the appropriate status to be eligible to work. Reverification is not required according to the Justice Department, indeed, such attempt to reverify an expiring green card from your employer may constitute a violation of the anti-discriminatory provision.

Quote

Q. Does an employer need to reverify lawful permanent residents who produce a "green card" with a future expiration date?

A. No. Lawful permanent residents who produce an unexpired Permanent Resident Card (Form I-551 or "green card") should not be re-verified, even if the Form I-551 lists a future expiration date. Reverifying Permanent Resident Cards may constitute a violation of the anti-discrimination provision of the INA. For questions about how to conduct reverification in a nondiscriminatory manner, contact IER.

These  are screenshots from USCIS and justice.gov.

The clerk at the SSA said he only has to produce his DL and new SS card (we had the wording about validity removed).  Since he had presented the other SS card first, that may be why they are asking.

Thank you @starsky and @Farrieress! One thing less to mess with...

Went to the DMV today. I live in Virginia so I expected hassle and them having to verify my immigration status in Richmond and all that fun stuff.... Nope. Had a very nice experience (didn't know that was possible at the DMV...) and will be getting a license that expires on my birthday in 2025...

How long does it take to get a biometric appointment letter? Has been two weeks since I got my NOA 🤔🤔

Some people have been waiting over a month.  Roughly half of CSC filers in December have theirs, January almost none have theirs.  I'd expect another month wait at least for CSCVSC is slightly faster with about a month wait based on trends from the last few months.

Hi ALIENRJ187, you mean a month after got NOA1? Wow, why it takes so long than normal. Strange.

Yes at least a month after getting NOA1.  I was doing some reading in the Dec2017 and Jan2018 threads and their timelines which is how I got the info.  I wanted to know myself because we are planning a trip to Hawaii and don't want to miss our appointment if the letter comes before we leave or while we are gone.  Timeframe between getting the biometrics letter and the actual appointment also varies.  The only thing I dont know is the timeframe between getting the biometrics letter and the actual appointment.  It seems to be around two weeks though.

Copy paste from my post on page 23:

Does anyone know the rough timelines between getting NOA and getting biometrics, as well as the average length of time between getting biometrics and the actual appointment?  My wife and I are taking a few weeks off work next month (already scheduled) and we want to go on a trip to Hawaii early next month (around April 3-15).  However we can't book anything if the biometrics will be at the same time, and we won't know when that is for who knows how long.  We would also prefer to not reschedule biometrics if at all possible since it'll just delay things further

So my thought was to wait until we get the letter and plan around it.  If it comes late or doesn't come at all until after our vacation time is over, then we lose our window for the trip.  So our other thought was to book a last minute trip like 1-2 days before we'd leave (if we don't get biometrics by that time).  It has the benefit that we might get a really cheap rate (or possibly screw our trip over too), but also odds are if the letter came while we were gone we wouldn't miss the appointment.  If worse comes to worst we do have an alternate trip planned that won't have us gone for so long or for so far away, and we can take the Hawaii trip in August instead.

The January 2018 thread has almost everyone at VSC got their appts on average a month or more after getting the NOAs.  NOBODY getting biometrics appointments yet from CSC (we are at CSC).

The December 2017 thread the VSC people are on average about a month as well between NOAs to biometrics.  The CSC people only about half got the biometrics appointments and the times vary from 2 weeks to 2 months after getting NOAs.

The November 2017 thread the VSC people averaged a month or more in most cases while the CSC people averaged three weeks between NOA and biometrics.

So I guess in the process I sort of answered my own question, but the data could help someone else so here it is.  I guess I'll just wait to see when Jan 2018 and Feb 2018 CSC filers start getting their biometrics appointments so I can keep track of it and plan accordingly.

Here's an update on my our case.

Documents were sent on 2/22

Documents were received by USCIS on 2/26

Check was cashed on 3/12

NOA1 received on 3/16 (Received Dated 2/26 and Notice Dated 3/8)

It's rather unusual that they took long to cash the check and send us the NOA1 but then again it's been a waiting game throughout this process from day one. However, I have theory that this delay was due to my wife changing her last name. Her current 2 year GC has her maiden name but this time around when we applied for her ROC we requested to change her name to take my last name. The NOA notice now reflects her new name. I believe they first updated their system to reflect the change hence why it took a while for us to get a response from them.

Hi everyone, glad found this post and join this group.

My package sent to VSC on 2/14, received on 2/16, NOA1 came to my mailbox on 2/27. Still waiting for Biometrics notice. A bit worried why it's not coming yet, as normally should come after NOA1 a week or two. Is there anyone receive Biometrics notice? Thanks.

Hi LinaHugo,

Just curiosity, did you change your name to take your spouse's last name? Our's got delayed also and we just received the NOA1 yesterday. I have theory that this delay was due to my wife changing her last name. Her current 2 year GC has her maiden name but this time around when we applied for her ROC we requested to change her name to take my last name. The NOA notice now reflects her new name. I believe they first updated their system to reflect the change hence why it took a while for us to get a response from them.

ROC:

Filed: 2/22/17

VSC Received: 2/26/17

Check Cashed: 3/12/17

NOA1: 3/15/17
