This is interesting! My wife was issued her driver's license for the full 4 years once her GC finally came. When her AOS was pending, she had to keep going in for 'status checks' (the amount of time we spent at the DMV was really not good). She might be able to get away with waiting until the 10 year GC comes through in (fingers crossed) summer 2019 before renewing her license (we live in Minnesota).

My turn has come!  I received a notification at 5.30pm CST yesterday that my card is in production and approved. It was such a relief to see the notification come in. I received a text first, then an

Here we go! I received my son's NOA in the mail today. notice date 03/06

To my surprise, it was sitting in our German mail box. Although we put in our military APO address as our mailing address both on forms and online, they still send it to our German physical address.

I'd be totally okay with that, however, my name is nowhere on the letter as the principal applicant cause my son is included only as dependent. Both petitioner and beneficiary info has my son's name beneath them. 

Oh by the way, I haven't received mine yet! I'm not too worried about it at this time (I lied, I'm totally freaking out!) , it may arrive to our APO which takes longer time to be delivered.

So, this looks like an error to me therefore I called their military help line only to have someone tell me that there's a very heavy phone call load at that moment so the officers don't get  transferred calls. They suggested me to fill up a form online on https://my.uscis.gov/account/needhelp and open a ticket for my issue. So I did!

The receipt no doesn't show up on the app. 

When I try to add it to my uscis online account, it says it's already registered in my cases folder but it's absolutely not there!

oh the joy of dealing with uscis especially when you are overseas!!!

It seems to depend on the DMV. If possible and to avoid complication, I would renew your license before your green card expires. Here's an interesting thread for someone in a similar circumstance:

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I actually got issued with an 8 year when I mine expired last year. Prior to that, it was just a two-year limited term. Definitely, a relief to not have to worry about that paperwork for the foreseeable future.

Someone else posted earlier in the thread a well-researched estimate which I am inclined to go with. That said, something that many of us here can relate to is how quickly things can change at USCIS and not to take them for granted. Trends are only trends until they change again. Any trips you plan and pay for during this period must be considered risky and therefore you would be wise to book tickets that have flexibility. Nobody here can give you a solid answer to your question, honestly, you take your risk, you take your chances...... :)

 Was so worried and thought my package was missing, sent on 23 Feb, and received at VSC on 26th Feb, 

 

I even called them and they said i should expect a receipt by 30 days, if I don’t get then I should call back.

 

my check was was just cashed this morning, so waiting for my NOA notice.

 

some takes 3 weeks, and the customer service also said it sometimes our bank process also delayed our receipt.

Your NOA should be right around the corner. We've actually had some instances where NOAs have been received before checks have been cashed.

We normally hate paying bills and hate to see our Bank Balance go down. But today we were happy to see a particular check get cashed. They finally freakin cashed our check. Hoping to see the famous NOA in our mailbox in the next couple of days.

some takes 3 weeks, and the customer service also said it sometimes our bank process also delayed our receipt.

It seems to depend on the DMV. If possible and to avoid complication, I would renew your license before your green card expires. Here's an interesting thread for someone in a similar circumstance:

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I actually got issued with an 8 year when I mine expired last year. Prior to that, it was just a two-year limited term. Definitely, a relief to not have to worry about that paperwork for the foreseeable future.

 

Someone else posted earlier in the thread a well-researched estimate which I am inclined to go with. That said, something that many of us here can relate to is how quickly things can change at USCIS and not to take them for granted. Trends are only trends until they change again. Any trips you plan and pay for during this period must be considered risky and therefore you would be wise to book tickets that have flexibility. Nobody here can give you a solid answer to your question, honestly, you take your risk, you take your chances...... :)

Thanks @starsky for posting a link to renewing DL's, especially since it's relevant to my State of residence. From what I read, people experience less hassle when they go to the DMV while their GC is still valid + their extension letter. I think I'll do the same, instead of waiting for my DL to expire first. I'm imagining everything gets processed on a system and if the GC is expired it won't let them proceed with giving out another DL without additional approval/checks? That's my guess.

We had no trouble renewing his DL with GC and extension letter for a year extension.

 

I asked the SSA office about the employer reverification.   They confirmed that it's only the card that expires, not the status and employers should not reverify green cards.

 

We had not changed his social security card from the "valid only with DHS authorization"  The clerk explained that he can just preset his DL and the new clear SSA card and the employer is not allowed to ask for the green card. 

 

This should eliminate constant reverification while waiting for ROC.

hello, I'm so glad to find this group.  its been 29 days since i receive the 797(extension letter), but no bio appt coming, i though it got lost in mails. But looks like CSC is taking their sweet time.  

 

I'd like to share my time line here: 

send my package 2/5,  uscis received my package 2/8,  notice date 2/12.........  no bio notice yet,  when looking up status, says" fingerprints fee received"
