Hey there guys,

I hope my journey is coming to an end. Just received notification that my n-400 interview has been scheduled. My I-751 is still pending as of Feb 2018. It has been transferred from Vermont to Texas then to Missouri. I applied for n-400 back in feb 2019. I hope its a combo interview, I'm really tired with this process and traveling all over the world with this extension letter which faded and you can barely see letters on it lol.

Good luck !!!

Yikes! I'm guessing the RFE is probably the main reason is taking so long, as it seems like any deviation from the happy-path of this process seems to just extend it more and more.

Have you called USCIS and inquired about it? Additionally, I'm sure the end of the 18 month extension is looming, so have you called to get an infopass appointment to get your passport stamped?

You're right, the RFE caused the delay and I took my time replying with a massive 5" high stack of evidence.

I just don't understand why it then takes over 4 months to adjudicate once they received that extra evidence  in early May.

I managed to get an online ' out of processing enquiry' through the system and they said they would review my case.

And yes you're right my 18 month extension letter expires at the end of this month. Whoops!

My question is whose responsibility is it to take action, USCIS or mine, it is them who are having processing delays not mine, I've done everything proper and on time. It shouldn't have to be me who has to chase them up and have to panic about extension letters expiring!

People need to understand: ROC is a low-priority petition for an agency that is swamped with more urgent (e.g., asylum, employment-based) or more visible (e.g., asylum, citizenship) applications. They know you can live a normal life for years without a decision on your petition. Once there is even a question about your case, expect a lengthy delay.

Or force USCIS' hands by filing the N-400, if your ultimate goal is citizenship.

Thanks for your input, I agree with most of it but not that you can live a normal life whilst the ROC decision lingers on, for example my employers are already asking questions about my extension letter expiring, and if you have been following this particular thread like I have from day one, there are countless examples of people whose lives are affected by delays like not being able to renew their driving licences because of expired Green cards and the DMV not understating the rules with extension letters, so it does impact people lives a lot. There are plenty of examples on the 2570 pages of this thread.

I feel you. I, too, went through ROC, and I know it's not a "normal" life. But USCIS only cares about your immigration status, and those other inconveniences don't concern them as much. Perhaps that's how I should've worded it. Thanks for the comment.

Hi afrocraft, thanks for your comment, regarding what you say about USCIS, only cares about someones immigration status, so if my extension letter is about to expire, who is the onus on me or them as to what happens next?

On you. They don't care. You can go get a green card stamp on your passport. In addition, I would use that opportunity to press for action on the I-751 by contacting my Congressional rep for case assistance, and playing up the harm the delay is causing me.

Don't know anything about NJ but I'd be surprised if they opened on a Saturday. Call and confirm that date.

Hi Starsky and all you Feb 2018 filers

I finally got approved yesterday Friday 20th September,   a massive 592 days or 1 year, 7 months & 15 days and just before my 18 month extension letter expired at the end of this month!

It states on the update that they have sent me an approval notice and I must follow instructions in that notice, any body know what that means, I thought it was normal to get a card being produced update.

So finally I go there and can relax!

Just received a letter stating that my interview is scheduled for November 2nd at 7:30am. Its a Saturday, do they do Oath ceremonies on Saturdays? Also  I hope its a combo interview.

Do you guys think I should call USCIS and asked them if It will be a combo interview?

Congratulations! I am pretty confident it will be a combo interview and would prepare yourself for that. As someone else recommended, I would call to confirm the date, especially it being on a Saturday. At the same time they might be able to tell you if its a combo.

Hooray! Finally!!! You must be in disbelief that the day has finally come?! CONGRATULATIONS! :)

I don't recall anything special in regards to instructions to follow, but usually USCIS protect themselves by adding wording to the effect of "we've sent you instructions on how we will process/take action on your case". I am sure you'll receive your newly issued card in due course, perhaps as early as mid-week. Will you apply for N-400 now?

Congratulations! I am pretty confident it will be a combo interview and would prepare yourself for that. As someone else recommended, I would call to confirm the date, especially it being on a Saturday. At the same time they might be able to tell you if its a combo.

Hooray!

Thanks Starsky, it came out the blue on Friday night on my case tracker app.

I had an online ( out of processing time) enquiry going on with USCIS,  and a letter stating they would pull my file and review it. Within 2 weeks....done and dusted.....yah !

I'm not applying for N-400, so hopefully that will be it for the next 10 years!!!

Thanks for all your hard work on the table, and I've enjoyed our personal interaction on this forum, good luck with your future.

My new card is being mailed to me, so that is my journey coming to an end for the next 10 years.

Thanks to all you guys (except Starsky of course) for the congrats and nice messages when I got approved I was overwhelmed.

I for one will still keep and eye out for the last few stragglers that haven't been approved yet and am still thinking of them, no one should ever be left behind!

Bye
