Speaking for myself only a lot of us applied for naturalization for ourselves or our spouses and have been dealing with that process.  I think that once a hurdle has been successfully been met we focus on the next one and forget that there are still others who haven't quite made it as far as we have.  We're still  rooting for everyone, but there's a tendency to forget what it felt like playing the waiting game.  To those who feel neglected my sincerest apologies and know that we haven't forgotten you.

It's rather cruel what you are being put through, along with the others who are still waiting, too. I wish the system were more robust to be fairer to all, but that's a pipe dream that probably won't ever become reality.

When the approval finally happens, which it will, you'll go back to living your life without this burden hanging over you. You'll also realize that your life didn't change a great deal since before the approval. The anxiety at airport immigration doesn't go away, for me at least it didn't when I recently traveled on my new 10 year GC. Maybe once I'm a citizen it finally will.

Remember, there are always others worse off. We were all just waiting on a relatively simple approval; so try to consider those with much more complex and/or less fortunate circumstances that have tougher and even more stressful journeys to claim their liberties here. Stopping and considering that for a second helped me sometimes when I felt powerless and a bit defeated from all the waiting. Just perhaps it will help you or others dealing with the wait.

I created this thread back in Feb 2018, 2,522 posts later, I'm still here, hoping to shepherd the last few through to their own approvals. Good fortune has to come soon, folks!

I remember when you created the thread and how supportive you were to all of us.  You're right that our lives really didn't change that much during the process, but the anxiety was there because of all of the media stuff that we were constantly bombarded with.  My wife just had her N-400 approved, but now it's waiting for the oath ceremony to be scheduled.  It will happen, but it always seems to take forever when you're the one waiting.  Hope all is well with you and that you're anxiety levels go down when you travel again.  The immigration folks are just like the rest of us and many of them are naturalized citizens so they know what it's like for us.  There are a few officers who don't have a clue, but for the most part they're all just doing a job and are pretty good at it.  Remember when something bad happens they're the ones to whom people will point fingers at.  Best of luck to you and everyone else on their immigration journey and thanks for all you've done for us former February filers.

Thanks for the kind words, didn't think of it like that, its true, people get on with the next hurdle, and they have probably joined another forum.

I'm not applying for naturalisation, we may go back to the UK when we get old, just waiting for the ROC to be done with and my 18 month extension expires at the end of September.

Thanks Starsky

Great words as usual, thanks for the support and all you've done, especially the table, I'm normally OK as you know, I'm normally upbeat and always on here giving advice and support, but lately it's really got to me and just started working from part time to full time and my employed were worried about the 18 month extension letter expiring in September. I start to think why on earth are they taking so long, I work, i pay taxes, I'm still happily married to the same lovely women I met over 4 years ago, I'm still in the same house since I started dealing with all this AND I sent a package weighing 5.5 lbs and 5" high containing massive amounts of 'co-mingled finances' they asked for on the RFE, which they got early May. Come on give me a break, what more do you want, my wife is really upset with it all and said why don't we just walk over the border and live in California where they give you healthcare, education, driving licences etc, but I know that was just sheer frustration talking, but she did say it. No wonder some people don't bother with all this, if they make it so hard for legal immigrants.

Timeline

So the wife just did her biometrics today (Milwaukee Service Center), here's some updates/notes on the facility from our visit:

  • Only the person the appointment was for (my wife) was allowed in, I had to wait outside. This was a little different from when she did her biometrics during her AOS/EAD process, as I was allowed in with her.
  • The above kind of makes sense, because the place was absolutely packed with people (last time it was pretty empty).
  • The letter says "no phones", but according to my wife, people had them, they just had to not be in use and on silent.
  • Her appointment was at 11am, we showed up at 10:!5am hoping to get in early, and we were in luck. She waited for about 50 minutes DMV-style (grab a number and wait your turn) before getting her biometrics taken. So it's not like she had to wait until her exact appointment time to "get in line", but I'm guessing this may vary on a case to case basis.
  • With the above being said, they do not support walk-in appointments anymore (I believe that was an USCIS-wide update mentioned pages back in this thread). There was a lady that came in a day early and they turned her away.
  • At the time of my wife's visit, there didn't appear to be any Spanish translator there (there was a hispanic man there who spoke 0% English and nobody was able to talk to him really). Not sure if that's relevant, just figured I'd mention in case it helps someone down the road.
  • The actual biometrics part took like 5 minutes.
  • That specific service center is all street parking, with none in front of the building. Luckily the other 3 sides have 3 hour parking, but that area has lots and lots of parking (both paid and 2/3 hour) within blocks of the facility.
  • My wife's inhaler in her purse caught security off-guard, just because when it runs through the machine it looks like an aerosol container (which you could imagine the security risk of that). Everything was fine, just figured I'd mention that in case anyone gets nervous during processed like that (like I do) and just want to go through as smoothly as possible.

Brilliant news! :)

Hopefully, this is the start of the remaining few left for approvals. Truly hope so!

We are at 87% approved in California and 78% in Vermont. I do suspect that these are a little under reported, though.

Still no update on my case, with no RFEs. My case is actually very simple with no complications, so who knows what it's stuck on. My plan is to schedule the infopass one month prior to expiration of the letter. It's annoying but it's not the end of the world.

Hi I'm in the same boat, however I did have a RFE which I sent back early May, when did you apply ROC and when does your letter expire? Mine expires end of Sep.
