How long does it take from when one gets the card being produced to actually receiving the Card? My card being produced notification is dated February 22nd. My approval notice is dated Feb 25th. I have a trip coming up on March 7th and i'll love to have my card in hand before then.

Thanks,

We went from card being mailed to in hand in 6-7 days, total of 4-5 business days.  We got the notice online on Friday, notice in mail on Saturday, card in hand on that Friday six days later.

Haven't even gotten the mailed notification yet, only that it's being produced. So that means I still got some time to  go right?

I've heard of people getting the notice one day, then the next day getting the card.  Also heard of people getting the card before the notice.  It should be within 7 days after you get the CARD BEING MAILED message.  Pretty close for the trip, but I hope it comes in time for you.  Where are you going?

We were notified online on 2/21/19 that our unconditional card application had been approved, received the  approval letter from the California Service Center on 2/25/19, and the new Green Card today (2/26/19) from the Lee's Summit, MO printing facility.  From what others have posted it appears that the cards are being issued very quickly once the applications are approved.  For those of you still waiting we understand the frustration, but keep the faith, the wheels of government turn, albeit, very slowly.  We'll keep everyone in our prayers.

Green cards are actually printed and shipped from Corbin, Kentucky.  The envelope will have the address for NBC in Lee Summit, MO, so that mail can be returned there if it becomes undeliverable for whatever reason.

The standard procedure for all green card printing is- after the approval is entered in the system by an officer, there is a mandatory two business days waiting period before the physical card is printed.  Cards are generally printed and shipped no later than the 4th business day after approval, and the card is shipped using USPS Priority Mail (2-3 days anywhere in the US).

The approval notice is printed and mailed the day after an approval, and it comes out from the Service Center a file was processed.  This is a standard USPS First Class mail, which is slower than USPS Priority Mail.

My wife IMed me at work today and said (with typical British understatement), 'I have good news.' She got the approval notice in the mail today!! Ahh it's such a huge relief, I feel like I just gained three years on my life. There was no email notification that the case had been approved, just the letter in the mail (and the USPS informed delivery didn't even arrive until after the mail, haha).

Then, this afternoon, I got the text/email notification that her card is being produced! The app (and old website) has just shown CASE STATUS until today.

Got curious when GBOS replied about cards being printed & shipped from Corbin, KY so I did a bit of researching to satisfy my own curiosity.  First thing I did was  a history of the tracking number from the Green Card insert and it indicated that the mailing originated at KC Mo Distribution Facility Feb. 25, 2019.  Then  I did a Google search to see if I could find any other information about where Green Cards are produced.  Once I put in Corbin, KY,  discovered that General Dynamics Information Technology produced cards there.  Now I was confused because  it took only 4 business days including the day our application was approved to receive it in the mail.   GBOS is correct that Green Cards are indeed produced in Corbin, KY, but I found  an article that USCIS also has a printing facility in Lee's Summit, MO.  I also found an article from April  2018 that indicated General Dynamics was going to close the Corbin, KY facility and move those employees to their London, KY facility.  I'm wondering if perhaps USCIS splits the printing of Green Cards to both facilities based on geography  or backlog?

What GBOS wrote is probably standard procedure and I'm just ####### so GBOS please don't take my researching  the wrong way.

@GerryC327 - It is true about the move from one KY city to another.  USCIS actually has publicly talked about it.

As far as I have learned (which the information was current as of November 2018), Lee Summit, MO prints I-765 card (EAD) and Corbin, KY prints I-551 card (green card).

As far as the 2-day mandatory waiting period, that is true with the “initial green card,” and I assume that the same restriction would put on the I-751 applicants (and maybe it doesn’t).

What I'd really like to hear is that your application has been approved and your Green Card will be arriving shortly.  All the best, my Visa Journey friend.

Today I received the I797 in the mail saying that my case was approved. When I logged into my account online it says the card was mailed to me on the 22nd. Will update once I actually receive the card in the mail.

Also, just wanted to encourage those who do not see any updates since the case was received last year. My case's number only showed on the new site (myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov). On the old site it would say that case number was invalid or could not be found. When I called USCIS about a month ago they also could not find my case number under the electronic dial search. When I spoke to someone there they gave me the basic you'll have to wait answer. Up until Feb 20th, when I logged in to my account the only update that showed was when they received my case on March 5th of 2018. Hang in there! It's a matter of time.

Thank you! And congratulations

Just a moment ago, I received a text and email to say a new processing action was taken on my case. The email reads as below, but when I log-in to the OLD interface the same case transferred message appears (except Feb 4 is now Feb 6). The last updated date is today 2/27 rather than 2/4 as before. I am assuming that this simply means someone from USCIS touched my files, perhaps even transferred the case again, but as far as I know, my case is still in NBC after the first transfer on 02/04, despite it saying 2/6 as below.

Has anyone else had a similar notification? Or does anyone know what this may mean?

*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

There has been a recent processing action taken on your case.

Receipt Number: WAC18092*****

Application Type: I751, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS ON RESIDENCE

Your Case Status: Initial Review

On February 6, 2019, we transferred your Form I751, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS ON RESIDENCE, Receipt Number WAC18092*****, to another USCIS office. That office now has jurisdiction over your case. We sent you a notice that explains why we moved your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by March 8, 2019, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators. If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice if you need to reschedule. Occasionally, you may receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints taken when you have filed a form other than those listed above. In these situations, you may receive your appointment notice more than 30 days after submitting your application or petition.

  • Log-in to your myUSCIS account to view your case history and understand what you can expect to happen next on your case.
  • Current processing times can be found on the USCIS website at under Check Processing Times.

Sincerely,

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)

@starsky - From what I experienced on 2/6, the update is delayed to display (but not to alert you), as weird as it sounds.

On the new USCIS website, I added both my case (EAC) and my friend’s case (WAC).  She filed way before me in November 2017 and her filed was transferred once to TSC.  On 2/6, I received a text that there has been an action taken on my case, so I logged on right away and it shows no change in either case.

I was all confused and let down at the same time, and I realized something behind the scene definitely had to happen for me to get a text.  I went back to work and I remembered to check again the next day.  What I saw was, my status when the case was received on 3/26/2018 in Vermont was repeated (there were two, and then there were three).  So nothing exciting there, but I read it as “probably” a file was moved from off-site storage to the file room at VSC, likely getting in queue to be worked on in the next few months.

I wouldn't put to much faith into the online portal. I signed up for text and email notifications and only received an email Saturday about the RFE update on our case. When I logged into the online portal on the new and old sites my history still said the same ol' message up until yesterday. Yesterday it finally caught up and now states that on "Feb. 23rd and RFE was issued". Maybe wait a day or two and check the portal again? I hope it's good news, like card is being produced! :)
