Today I received the I797 in the mail saying that my case was approved. When I logged into my account online it says the card was mailed to me on the 22nd. Will update once I actually receive the card in the mail.

Also, just wanted to encourage those who do not see any updates since the case was received last year. My case's number only showed on the new site (myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov). On the old site it would say that case number was invalid or could not be found. When I called USCIS about a month ago they also could not find my case number under the electronic dial search. When I spoke to someone there they gave me the basic you'll have to wait answer. Up until Feb 20th, when I logged in to my account the only update that showed was when they received my case on March 5th of 2018. Hang in there! It's a matter of time.

Thank you @GBOS for the details, it kind of puts things in perspective for me.

Hi all.  What is a Tier 1 or Tier 2 customer service representative and how do I reach them?  I keep on getting rerouted by the machine at the USCIS number and am never being able to reach anyone to speak with.  Thank you so much in advance!

Tier 1 are contractors and they are known as parrots.  They read everything from the screen in front of them, and they do not have any additional information you cannot get from USCIS.gov.  They do have the ability to create a service request for you (some of which you cannot do it yourself online).

Tier 2 are real USCIS immigration officers who actually have access to the internal systems (like to see where your physical files are located, or who is working on the files <not that they will ever tell you that>).

You have to choose the option to report a problem with your case, and it will get you to the parrots.  You cannot get to Tier 2 officers from the automated system; only the parrots can transfer you.

Thank you so much GBOS.  How do you get the parrots to transfer you to a Tier 2 officer?

Thank you so much GBOS.  How do you get the parrots to transfer you to a Tier 2 officer?

@gioC - it is a tough one.  I only called them twice because the level of frustration when you talk to these parrots can sometimes go to the roof real fast.

I would say you explain your problem to these parrots, and after putting up with them reading from the screen to you, tell them then that you want to speak with a Tier 2 officer because you are satisfied with the response you just heard and that you spend a lot of time holding the line.

You could get a tough parrot, at times.

What does it mean when you get an email saying your case has been approved?? Please tell me i'm not excited for nothing

It means you're approved. Can you please let us know when you filed etc and when you get more familiar with the website (noticed you joined VJ 20 minutes ago) can you fill in your timeline? It's under your profile. Would be very helpful to the rest of us so we can predict when it might be our turn. Thank you and congratulations! :)

Intentional or not, can I just say that I appreciate the light humor here :D I think we all hope that we don't encounter a "tough parrot" when we call USCIS.

My Case was approved on Feb 22nd - now I am just awaiting my card! WOOOO!

Back to business. Congrats on the approval! Good to get another dunk in the California basket. 40% are now approved, *according to those we know about.
