Hello

We plan to ask a B1 visa for my Ukrainian gf in Kiev. I'm not US citizen. I'm french and live in France. She works and live in Ukraine. I would pay for the trip. I understood however that the visa should be based on her own merits and not me.

But would it worth to sponsor her thru a letter ? Or should transfer some funds regulary before-hand to appear on her last 3 statements ? Not too high sums to not be suspicious but enough to cover the trip and her living in Ukraine. It's common to receive amounts of cash for payments in Ukraine.
I plan to ask for the visa in april.

Her salary is about 432 usd per month as a pharmacist representive for a well known british pharmacentical company. If it's little money for the western world it's on the higher side for ukraine.

As I am not us citizen they should not be suspicious about our relationship. We don't plan to live there or see any family. Just tourists.
Do you think it would still help to write a letter regarding our travel together telling we are travelling together and that I will responsible for the trip ?

She already has many different significant stamps on her passport (European countries, Russia, Turkey, Singapore, India, Thailand, Nepal, Brazil, Argentina) if it helps to prove the wouldn't be an illegal migrant.

Does she have chances ?

Thank you.

Sponsoring her through a letter will be of no value.  As you know, she must qualify on her own.  If she can show strong ties to her country, she has a chance......No way to know for sure, unless she tries....good luck.

Thank you.

Yes but showing she is not going there alone could help maybe..

Well she has typical ties as job and me because i'm not american. Which other ties could she provide ?

When Schengen required visa for ukrainian citizen she got 3. How difficult is american compared to schengen ?

Very difficult.

I dont see how not going alone is a tie to her home. You do not need to send anything to her.

Everything they need to know is asked on the DS160 form she fills out. At the interview they will ask a few questions as a formality.

Let us know the result.

1. Letter would be pointless. Don't do it.

2. Money couldn't hurt.

3. Significant stamps probably will help, having a Schengen visa certainly helps.

You didn't mention age. Assuming she's in her 20s or 30s, that will make it less likely for her to get a visa. If she's older, better chance.

Certainly seems worth a shot. Good luck!

Well I thought that if she is in relationship with someone in Europe it would make less chance to immigrate than if it would be with an american because she wouldnt have reason to stay there.

She is 27.

Let's see, having other visa can be a plus that she convinced and returned.

Yes it seems they rarely ask to see the documents.  So the DS160 should have all the information about work, list of countries visited, .. to improve chances. It's still more chances than someone who never left the country.

So should I add my name on the form when asking other people travelling with and who pay for the trip ? I would come to kiev and would go to the US from there with her.

Thank you !

And she took her last job recently and i had multiple experience I don't know if it influences stronger ties. However she is born and got her diploma in 2012 in lugansk where is war now. But she works and lives in the capital for years. I don't know if it can have a negative effect. At least not for schengen visas.

She just needs to apply and find out.

To be picky the only person who would know who she is in a relationship with would be her.

Yes she will have to answer questions mostly as they rarely look any document.

But should I put my name on the form as travelers companion and person who pay for the trip ?

Seems pretty obvious... are you her travelling companion and are you paying for the trip?

Yes I am. Since I wont provide letter it will be written on the ds160 that i will be the companion and the person paying for the trip. Is that problem if I put my french details ? Should I prove by flight tickets, picture that our relationship is genuine ?

As we are not married should it be friend or other ?

You are irrelevant to her application, well other than as a source of funds if she has none.

But how mentioning me paying for the trip on the ds160 help ?

If she has no money then she needs to explain how it is being paid for, not sure I would say help.
