Knightsbridge Medical Review

Just finished my medical, so thought I'd give a breakdown of the process for anyone who's interested.

My appointment was at 10:30am. I stayed with a friend in wimbledon so left at 8:30am because I'm a worrier and had to take 2 trains.

The walk from Bond Street Station is fairly easy and only took 5 mins (but I did have google maps guiding me).

If you don't have a chance for breakfast or arrive 45 mins early like me and want a cup of tea/coffee, you will pass tons of places on the way but there is also a pub directly opposite Knightsbridge surgery that's open 8-11:30am for breakfast (The Coach Makers Arms).

I went in at 10:15 and handed over my paperwork. The lady was very nice, handed me a cup to pee in and more forms to fill out. I handed everything back to her and went back to the waiting room. By 10:31 I had been called in for my chest X-ray which only took 5 mins, before heading back to the waiting room.

The doctor called me in at around 11am. He was super friendly, we just went over my answers to the forms I filled in, he took some blood, checked my blood pressure, eyes and ears. Didn't take long at all, then back to the waiting room until the Nurse called me in to go over my vaccination records.

Spoke to the nurse who was also super friendly and she informed me that I will need an update on my tetanus + diptheria, plus the flu jab. I didn't have to get them done today, but decided it was probably the easiest option. It cost £52 (40 for T+Dpth, 12 for flu).

All in all, everyone was really friendly, there was a bit of waiting around, took around 80 mins total. Provided there are no problems she said the embassy will have my results in 5 days. :D

It was as smooth as can be I think.

As long as you are armed with a letter from your Doctor saying they don't deem you a risk yo yourself or others, then from what I've heard you should be fine. It sounds like you have thought of everything though. Just give yourself plenty of time to get there and relax the morning of. Good luck!

I had a letter to cover my period of depression and PTSD, and literally it was a non-issue.  I was asked to just explain what had happened and to confirm that I wasn't planning to harm myself, and then we moved on.

My medical took nearly 2 hours as they couldn't get a blood sample from me but the staff were friendly and apologetic. I had my required medical summary with me, however I was informed that this needed to be updated by my gp so I submitted it via email a couple of days later. I received an email to say that it would be reviewed and sent to the embassy within 3 working days with my medical. I rang on the 5th working day (Friday) and it had not even been looked at and was told to phone back on the Monday to follow up. I think if you are on a tight timescale to get your visa, stay on their back! When I went to the embassy for my interview, they seemed to have this problem a lot with the medicals as nobody was surprised that it had not been sent.

I would also advise anyone on a tight timescale to phone regularly and ask if there has been any cancellations so you can get a sooner date. I had to wait over two weeks for the next available date but read in other forums that people who had been approved around the same time as me were able to get a medical within a few days.

Thanks for this bit of info, especially since it's what I'm trying to do too. I'd also seen on here that people were getting appointments reasonably quickly. Yet I called on Tuesday and was told the earliest appointment is April 19th. I called again today but it's still the same... At least it's something I can finally book, although it's disappointing to wait another three weeks when I've been prepared and ready for it for months now!

Hi everyone! I’m wondering if any of you know if it’s common for cancellations At Knightsbridge as they told me the next available date is June 12th and that just seemed really far away

I don't know how common they are, but book yourself in for the next available date and just keep calling, you might get lucky! I've read about quite a lot of people doing it, so it must be fairly common :)

We booked it last week for June 12th, and his interview for the 29th. If we don’t get a medical cancellation by the 1st we’re going to stop calling & just buy his plane ticket for July 12th. Seeing as though most people get their passport back 7-8 days after the interview
